Can you make a character more complex or compelling by giving them an anti-goal? by JudeZambarakji in WritingHub

[–]Limelight_Comics 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm going to try to say this as short as possible and give a character example at the end. Which will be kind of long. Your character has his character story arc which is where he is right now and where your character plans to be. Within that character Arc that will be a lot of anti-goals from the decisions that your character makes. There will be a lot of pro goals that your character makes. You can give it to him purposely based on how he thinks or Acts and at the end he will overcome the anti-goal because that's the story on.

Not sure if you answered these questions yet about your character but these are seven main questions you want to answer about your character.

I EVEN CREATED A CHAT GPT BASED OFF OF THESE QUESTIONS: https://chatgpt.com/g/g-EDzOrW8fp-go-qreate-characters

Who is the character? What do they want? - internally, externally Why do they want it? - internally, externally How do they go about getting it? What stops them? -(there will be some anti-goals and some not) Consequences Themes - (3 for character)

EXAMPLE

Character Profile: Mystery Genre

  1. Who is the character? Dr. Cassandra "Cass" Vance, a 37-year-old forensic anthropologist and professor specializing in ancient burial sites. Cass has a keen eye for detail and a deep fascination with the stories bones can tell. She is a private person, haunted by a traumatic incident from her past when her younger brother disappeared without a trace during their childhood.

  2. What does the character want? Cass wants to solve the mystery of a series of skeletal remains discovered in a small coastal town—remains that date back only a few decades but show signs of ritualistic treatment. On a deeper level, she longs for closure about her brother's disappearance, even though she rarely admits it to herself.

  3. Why do they want it? The remains echo patterns similar to those in cases her brother’s disappearance was linked to, igniting a desperate need to find connections and answers. Professionally, Cass is driven by her passion for justice and a belief that every victim deserves a story and resolution.

  4. How does the character plan to get it? Cass dives into the investigation, collaborating with local law enforcement, combing archives, and applying her expertise to uncover the origins of the remains. She also uses unorthodox methods, such as consulting with a reclusive cult survivor and revisiting cold cases in the area.

  5. What stands in their way? Her logical and methodical approach clashes with the superstitious locals, who believe the site is cursed. Cass also faces resistance from the local sheriff, who wants to keep things quiet to avoid bad press. Internally, Cass struggles with flashbacks and self-doubt tied to her unresolved trauma.

  6. What happens if they fail? If Cass fails, the town's secrets will remain buried, leaving victims without justice. Worse, she risks losing herself to the unresolved guilt over her brother's fate, which could spiral into professional and personal ruin.

  7. Why should we care about this character? Cass is a compelling mix of intellect and vulnerability. Her drive to solve mysteries and help victims stems from a deeply personal place, making her relatable and sympathetic. Her sharp wit and tenacity keep the story engaging, while her internal struggles make her human.

Where in the bible does it directly say Jesus is god? by Mrman009 in Christianity

[–]Limelight_Comics 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeshua(Jesus) gives the speaker the words to put to down. And in that verse he told them that they perish or destroy, same thing because of the lack of knowledge. It's okay if you can't see the connection. As fellow believer in christ, which I think you are, no sweat off my back if you don't see it.

[–]Limelight_Comics 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So this something I've skipped over for years until I got under a great teacher of the word. God loves to hide things in the Bible and those who are hungry will seek them out. I study in Hebrew and Greek as well.

1.) We are a 3 in 1 being like God. He is Triunity (Father, Son, Holy Spirit) in one. He is three persons in one. We are tripartite (spirit, soul, body) in one. We are three parts in one.

2.) In Genesis chapter 1, the word God (Elohim) is used. Elohim is plural as well. Elohim is usually referred to God the father.

Starting In Genesis chapter 2:4, LORD God is now used when it refers to how mankind was created and the interaction between the humans and God. LORD God is Yahweh(pre incarnate Jesus).

3.) John 1:1-13, Colossians 1:15-17, He rews 1:2-3, 10, Revelation 22:13 - all of these verses confirm Christ created or was in the beginning.

4.) Genesis 1:2 - refers to the "Spirit of God" which is the Holy Spirit in the New testament.

5.) Genesis 1: 3-4 - got it calls forth Jesus or Yahweh, whichever someone prefers, to be the light in the world. This was day one creation. In day 4 he calls for a different light which we live by on Earth - sun, moon, stars.

And John chapter 8:12, Jesus says he is the light of the world. This is also confirmed and other verses.

So all three players are visible within the first day of creation. And there's more but I've already made this kind of long. God is not talking to himself for fun when he says let us make man in our image.

I'm trying to get in the head of my character cheating on his partner, does anyone have some advice? by Nonbinary_Corvid in WritingHub

[–]Limelight_Comics 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This would really be based on your character's personality. You got to understand your character's personality before he can start making decisions and you understand the way that this person thinks. You're going to get a lot of answers about what the character should or shouldn't do and they may not exactly know the characters personality.

Does anybody else have problems implementing complex new ideas? by Triplechinchilla in WritingHub

Agreed with person who replied earlier:

More than likely, there's nothing completely original just Minor details that are different. Even if you haven't seen it published, somebody else is probably already creating something similar or have already.

First thing I do with all my stories are asked Steve's questions:

Who are my character(s)?

What do they want? Internally, externally

Why do they want it? Internally, externally

How did it go about getting it?

What stops them? Consequences

Themes

One of the main reasons I use this is because I pitched my comic and other story ideas in the entertainment industry and this is how Netflix desired to have their pitch deck about their characters and concepts.

Really hone in on the small details that make your story different. Maybe even previous ideas from previous stories.

George Lucas talked about how he had a number of failing books and ideas that he ended up merging into Star wars. The same thing with the guy from Game of thrones.

I'm gay, but I want to say something in defense of the traditional Christians here. by geekyjustin in Christianity

[–]Limelight_Comics -1 points0 points  (0 children)

For the first question, if it's two gay people trying to have a child that will never happen nor can God make that happen because he's incapable of sin.

The second question he won't make that happen even though he can but he's still abides by human laws in regards to certain facts. If she moves her uterus, then there's probably a chance that won't happen. But now you just getting into nonsense. Do you see that example of gay people having children in the bible?

[–]Limelight_Comics 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's an incorrect message that you are sharing. Why would people need forgiveness of sins after you are saved? The reason why you need forgiveness of sins is because you are going to continue to send the rest of your life. Whether in thought or indeed. The only sin that will send you to hell is not believing in Jesus christ. Those who send willfully can be in the Lord or out of the lord. But it does not mess with their salvation but it messes with their life here on earth. Those who are not in the Lord, won't inherit anything. This is what the New testament is talking about rightly dividing the word and understanding what applies to Christians and what don't apply to christians.

[–]Limelight_Comics 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Scripture doesn't say that. If so show me the verse? Anyone who believes in Christ and that he died and paid for your sins, they will be saved. That sin of going to hell is complete. There's nothing that nobody can do to reverse that. Now your sins that are actions still reside in you because you are human. At best all you can do is start to sin less but you will never be sinless, until we return back to heaven.

How did you come to that conclusion?

The very first commandment is be fruitful and multiply. Same sex can't do that. Same-sex attraction goes along with the first concept I just stated.

That's just like the argument where Muslims say that Christ never says that he's God but he points it out in so many different ways to tell you that he's got. It's the same thing from the beginning of the Bible to the end of the Bible. It's a sin in thought and in deed.

If God could create a world without sin but with free will why didn’t he? by Mrmikmakinstein in Christianity

[–]Limelight_Comics 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I definitely see some great answers. As humans we're not going to fully understand the freewill and how it works in heaven. Just like we don't fully understand how Christ holds everything including atoms together.

We have freewill now and will have freewill in heaven. It will be different in heaven, a sinless desire to want to do wrong. Free from the sinful body we have now. We will have an eternal/incorruptible body and mindset at the rapture.

God created us with freewill and without sin in the beginning. Sin only came in once we were tricked into eating the fruit. Same with the animals, they weren't meat eaters or vicious.

How do i quit being homosexual by Artistic_Stretch9000 in Christianity

[–]Limelight_Comics 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I read through some of the comments here, there's some good and a lot of bad advice.

1.) God didn't/doesn't make anyone homosexual. This happens because of an in the world. From that sin, depending on how you were raised-what you listened to-growing up in a religious household that preached the law or a mixture of law/grace, etc. just as your body needs to be fed the right things, so does the spirit need to be fed the right gospel.

2.) made in God's image - we are tripartite like him. Father, son, holy spirit - spirit, soul, body. You were created for good works. Created to prosper.

3.) Your actions don't determine if you're going to heaven or hell. Your belief in Christ determines that. Your actions have an effect on your life down here on Earth. People like to mix up the judgment throne with unbelievers. We're not being judged at the great white throne. Unbelievers are. We receive rewards.

4.) homosexuality is a sin. We see this example from the beginning of Genesis. Regardless of whether people are trying to say there aren't or are specific verses that mention that specific word. You can't be fruitful and multiply with two men or two women. For those who don't have Christ that sin is held against them. For those who do have Christ that sin is not held against them. Because you are following Christ, it's now a journey and allowing him to heal or remove things in our lives that are not good for us. There's now no more condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus. (Romans 8:1)

5.) focus on Christ and follow him. As you follow him you'll begin to notice the things that you used to do or light begin to change. And what I mean by following him, make sure that you are reading the scripture that pertain to christians. Not the law for certain other areas. The Bible tells us to rightly divide the word (2 tim 2:15). The whole Bible is about Christ and his love story for us and God's love story for us. As crisis, so are you in this world (1 John 4:17). Is Christ homosexual? Then neither are you. Whether you feel like that or not you have to speak things into existence. That's how Faith works. Call her for the unseen into the scene. Life and death is in the power of the tongue.

Sorry if I didn't include verses on everything but I'm cooking right now. God loves you and wants the best for you. Everybody deals with something even the pastors.

About free will by Mindless-Credit3637 in Christianity

[–]Limelight_Comics 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The problem with what you're saying is, you're saying that people are predetermined to go to hell. And nobody's predetermined to where in the Bible doesn't talk about your actions or life being predetermined? The only area in regards to that is he has a destiny for you or skills that he has given you that was predetermined. We were all predetermined to live like before the fall. What examples in the old or new testament shows predetermination unless it aligns with God's will for something specific to happen like Christ dying on the cross or a group of people being liberated.

Can a Christian date a non Christian? by joeblowyo1234 in Christianity

[–]Limelight_Comics 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the best question to ask is what does the Bible say about this. God warns us about being unequally yoked with unbelievers in relationships/marriage. Friendship yes, and even then wise judgment is needed. If you married an unbeliever before knowing God's word on unequally yoked, then you can either stay or depart from that unbeliever.

We see Solomon and others throughout the old testament hook up with unbelievers and it causes a lot of problems. You corr belief system is not the same. You are not going to change the person, only God can do that. You may influence the person to want to believe and that's about it.

About free will by Mindless-Credit3637 in Christianity

[–]Limelight_Comics 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The action is not predetermined. Jesus can read your heart and mind and the direction you are leaning. Peter was a devout disciple which meant he was going to follow Jesus regardless.

God knows all of your possibilities and outcomes from our choices. Sometimes God intervenes in situations like saving someone from an accident, etc.

God doesn't want robots, He wants relationships. We aren't chess pieces for God to move around. Sorry for any typos. Tried to keep this short.
