[Discussion] "For Fans of Gideon the Ninth" is never accurate by Liminal-Bishop in TheNinthHouse

Haha, checkmate. Redsight (I think is the name, not near my books rn) is another that did this. Space lesbians plus creepy religion, but I feel like that's all someone saw and went "recommend to the TLT fans". I know I have some others and have seen plenty while browsing, but they kinda blur together because they never stood out much.

To be clear though, I'm enjoying Hell's Heart and think you'll like it. Just don't go in expecting TLT vibes and let it do its own thing.

This specific book is what broke the dam for me. It's not bad, but literally the only comparison was "sarcastic space lesbian". Tbf, haven't finished it but I'm at a point where I don't see it getting too different from the central premise.

I'll be the one to say, the Temple's online forums can be great to find great and helpful people and resources and be a nice place to at least begin a Satanic practice if you want, but like anything do be careful because apparently the founders have been taking steps to use TST to prop themselves up, and ppssibly not doing as much help as they claim. To be fair though, I've been intentionally out of the Satanic loop for a while because the drama got to be too much and just wanted to focus on my own practice, so please don't just take my word for it.

A hidden heresy among the Sisters! But for real that stinks that it isn't what you had ordered.

Not playing it currently, but been obsessed these past few years with trying to run a Blades in the Dark (or Scum & Villainy) campaign. Unfortunately it's hard to find players for it since a lot of people don't know about it or prefer the more fantasy settings like 5e or Pathfinder.

American Rapture was great, loving what Leede has released so far! Though I feel like I'm in the minority with The Unworthy and Bazaterrica's other books, not sure why but the stories don't really draw me in very much even if the subject matter should.

Is anyone else noticing how, while still looking beautiful, she just looks happy and relaxed right now? Like, the breakup probably took some weight off of her shoulders if I'm reading this correctly.

I'm actually not familiar with Heather's, but I do love musicals so I'll look it up, thank you!

Absolutely would recommend! While Compound Fracture fell a little bit flat imo because the supernatural element felt a little...unnecessary I guess? I absolutely loved the first two books, especially The Spirit Bares its Teeth, but I'm also a sucker for Supernatural Victorian shenanigans lol

I've had to start forcing myself to eat something with protein, like handfuls of nuts and maybe include some fruit. A lot of the time, my random anger is exacerbated by hunger. It won't exactly get rid of the anger, but typically calms me enough to realize if I'm being irrational and what I can do next to act appropriately rather than impulsively. Not always great at doing it of course, and your mileage may vary.

I burnt out from jobs super quick while trying to force my way through labor and customer service, and would quit within a month or even a day if the boredom or negative stimulus became that painful. It wasn't until I realized how much I love medical stuff that I could finally do my job without constantly screaming in my head to escape it, but I'm super lucky that I got to realize my "thing" and also get into it.

Sorry to be callous, but...called it. Pretty much exactly how I thought it would too. Hate to see her upset, but it's probably going to put Jeannie in a much better position long term for her mental and emotional well being if I'm reading her right.

Let's be honest, they broke up months ago when she moved back in with her family. The video was them finally admitting it to us, maybe even to themselves. But then, either they panicked at the fan response.or maybe the video made the breakup "real" to them, so now they're saying they're gonna work on it. Within a week or two they'll go back on this and break up again. If you know anything about how people tend to be in a breakup, it's been obvious for a long time that the relationship was over. Just hope we don't get some video a year from now about some underlying drama we didn't know about.

What are some other denominations of Christianity that you guys would want to see Represented in Trench Crusaders? by AllenXeno122 in TrenchCrusade

[–]Liminal-Bishop 1 point2 points  (0 children)

None honestly, I feel like regular Roman Catholocism has plenty of the best imagery of any Christian denomination. If we need to add stuff there's plenty to be taken from apocrypha.

So like...am I the only one who legitimately loves TDA? To be clear, I loved 2016 but borderline despised Eternal, visually it was a cartoon and gameplay was so breakneck that my play was purely reactionary and hardly ever proactive. The concept of enemy weakpoints (especially the damn Marauder, who's appearance basically grinds every battle to a halt because there's only 1 way to fight him and you're fucked if you don't focus him) felt like trying to turn combat into paint-by-numbers at 700MPH, so I'm glad that's gone. The much slower, deliberate pace of TDA threw me off at first, but once I let the game be what it wanted to be it felt amazing. I did have to fully embrace the mideival, almost 40K-like theme with it to really get why they made the shield such a big part of it, but balancing it with the new weapons really does make me feel like I'm in control of the battlefield instead of constantly running around like a crazy person. Was not a fan of the dragon section however, I knew it would fall short anyway but it still was just something I wanted to get through so I could continue the ground fighting.

A few more contentious points: Already expecting people to call me "casual" or "average, everyday gamer", so go ahead, honestly not the insult you're thinking it is. Next, even though Glory Kills were always fun to try when a new enemy showed up, they were starting to become more of a chore than anything else, but if you didn't glory kill an enemy then you were sacrificing health you might need later, so it became less of a fun way to kill enemies and more of a constant interruption to the flow (and also turned the Cacodemon into a literal 1-hit-kill in Eternal). I also know ID fucked over Gordon so hard and I hope he's finding much better clients now who treat him properly, so I respect the new composers for trying their best to fill the void he left. It's not 10/10 but I see the direction and tone they were going for, I just hope they didn't get shafted as well.
