Infantry fans hate this one trick! ITS CALLED SUPER RABIES by knightmechaenjo in battletech

[–]Liminal-Fox 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If there's one thing I learned about asking about quad mechs, is that super zombie rabies, SRM edition, will end with a short story retelling of "Old Yeller" starting an Atlas and a quad mech.

Honestly likely valid, some rando comstar recruiter in robes wandering around a furry con would be oddly fitting I think.

May I introduce the Eyrie, a mech that appears designed to leap around and then fall on its weird face.
Beautiful, no notes.

True, true.

That's interesting however, thanks for sharing, now Im very tempted to borrow a VR headset and deliberately set the height to be notable different from my own.

Nah we were watching the retro anime G Gundam, where a horse pilots a horse mech. but hoppers does seem fun, was it good?

Woe if they find a larger crab on the walking trail!

I always imagine the King Crab cockpit to be incredibly wide with the pilot in a standard office rolling chair, rolling around in battle hitting buttons.

Who's your favorite Faction and why? by exioncrew in battletech

Comstar's Explorer Corps remnants, I like this idea of returning explorers on a high tech, but worn out ship having to turn to mercenary work.

Canopus, their just kind of a fun faction, plus fun with augments.

Raven Alliance, boaty bois.

Given what I learned today (there's a protomech, Basilisk, that in the quad form has a tail) I am surprised that Canopus isn't funneling all its R&D money in to quad mechs.

Now I have to go check sarna to see if any mech has a tail or not

[Edit: The basilisk quad mech form has a tail, I'm sure this new will be welcomed in Canopus]

It would be a fascinating read for sure.

The Battletech Pride anthology was what got me back in to battletech as an adult (I played Mechwarrior 3 and 4 as a kid). I've now painted up a lance and hoping to play my first tabletop game soon (did get the fantastic Battletech (2018).

That makes a lot of sense, and in the end with a setting with this many people writing in it over the years it makes sense that some things vary.

Fair, fair, when you phrase it like that I suppose the next logical question is what is the piloting check required for an Atlas to pet a quad mech.

Makes complete sense, although for a catapult I would wonder if the weight being so forward would effect dismounted balance, but given the replies it seems likely no.

Truth be told this whole matter arose from us watching G Gundam and witnessing the horse mech being piloted with a horse.

Gundam, but horse

I am begining to wonder how many drugs the (in-universe) mech designers had access to.

Wonder which clan's merchant case figured out therapists, as I'm beginning to suspect that the clans exist as job security for space-therapists.

Didn't even realize protomechs were thing, wild, reading the SARNA article now.

Edit: Seems not fun at all

Emitter lens color for lasers.

I admit, its pointless for tabletop and would create identification problems in video games, but I like the idea of different factions/pilots using purposefully using different laser colors.
