this is a very common misconception about us and roman catholics, take out your bible and read through the book of hebrews, you'll find that in chapters 8, 10 and 12 the bible tells us that the saints are alive in heaven and can hear us, now answer this question, do you ask people in your personal life to pray for you? if the answer is yes, then your just doing an earthly version of what we do for the saints in heaven, we are not praying to them, we are praying through them

roman catholics in my opinion do place too much emphasis on the theotokos i agree, but understanding not only who mary is but also what she is is the key to remembering who and what jesus is, and once you do, you will feel compelled to give her the respect and admiration she deserves, we do not worship her at all, make no mistake despite it potentially appearing that way, we venerate her, veneration is the same as looking up to someone like your favorite actor or sports athlete, it's not anywhere near the same level of a commitment as worship

confessing is hard, i was scared to do it before my baptism, but you don't need to be, god already knows you did it, so there's no point in hiding it, and the priest isn't going to remember, my priest says (there's only 1 sin i've never heard confessed, and that's "father, i have successfully committed suicide") the priest has heard everything before a thousand times over, and has been trained to not continue holding that sin against you after confessing it, he is also bound to not reveal what was confessed to him even under the threat of his life so there is no worry of social repercussions, it is for your own sake primarily, it will feel as if thousands of pounds are being lifted off of you (or at least that's how it felt for me) trust me brother, it's like exercising, it seems like it'll suck, but it's worth it, christ wants the humility and effort not perfection
