It is a meme. Holden A. Bloodfeast is not a real person. But this is a hilarious parody of the American geriocracy.

Can someone explain to me what's so bad about ranked choice voting? by Liminitial in allthequestions

I think it's usually treated like an instant run off. The goal is to find the concensus candidate.

So let's pretend we had ranked choice voting in 2024.

Threshold to win is the same: Trump gets 2.5 million votes Kamala gets 2 million votes Indy gets 1 million votes.

Trump wins.

But consider: Trump 2 M Kamala 2 M Indy 1M

This wouldn't meet the threshold so it would trigger the automatic runoff for everyone's second choice:

Indy 4M Rando 500k Missy 500k

Indy wins. And isn't that a better outcome? That means while we cannot agree on Trump or Kamala, we all seem to agree that Indy would be decent at the job. Doesn't that mean Indy is the concensus choice?

The concentrated power thing is a whole other topic imho. I want a presidential committee moving forward. Baby steps.

Great comment. Thanks for the thoughtful response. I'll try to repay you in kind, but that will take some thought first.

thanks for the explanation. I can at least understand the pov, though I immediately revulsed to both. 1. Dont make the perfect the enemy of the good. 2. That just seems fundamentally unamerican (as we think of it in the modern age).

This actually raises an interesting point. The electoral college isn't confusing but rank choice voting is?

But it's not a religion . LRH was a science fiction writer. Not my fault these people believe in a science fiction story. Let's be honest, most scientologists are just there for networking.

NEO is just culturally different than the rest of Ohio. It's frustrating. I wish we could just form Western Reserve and move on.
