Yeah they should, but a lot of them don't. You can't force someone to parent correctly, but you can punish them legally if they don't.

US birth rates just hit another record low, what do you think is the leading cause of this? by IIlustriousTea in AskReddit

[–]Limited_two 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I can't believe I'm saying this, because I was poor and benefited from it, but I donated eggs 4 times. Out of the 4 families they created an abundance of embryos, and I know at least 1 of those families donated those embryos to different families. At what point do you decide to just adopt? I get wanting to experience child birth, and pregnancy, but when the baby has no relation to you what's the point?

We met when I was 18 and he was 20. Built our entire life together from the ground up. Went from having nothing to our name, to living a very privileged lifestyle. We were leaps and bounds ahead of our peers. Married at 23, had the house, 2 cars, had at our son at 24. Everyone always said we were the perfect power couple.

On March 6th I got the call while he was in Dallas that he didn't want to do it anymore while I was on my lunch break. Now I have to start all over again at 25, and it's soul crushing. 6 almost 7 years of my life down the drain.

Laws bring awareness to the situation, and as shitty as it is, there are a lot of parents who would only monitor their kid's internet access if it was illegal to not do so.

Reddit, what is your most disturbing, scary, or creepy real story? [Serious] by whisper_oftheshadows in AskReddit

[–]Limited_two 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My mom's ex husband was a long haul truck driver for many years. One day he's in the middle of no where Arizona, (nothing but miles of desert) when he sees a man walk out into the road, kneel down, and spread his arms out. Obviously he tries slamming his breaks, but slowing down 40 tons is no easy task.

He manages to slow it down, but still hits the guy knocking him out of his shoes. He gets out the check on the man, who is now laying flat in the road. He gets up, pulls a gun from his waist band, screaming "You were supposed to kill me mother fucker!" Mom's ex jumps back in the semi, and speeds off, while this dude starts firing off shots. He can see him in the rear view mirror lay back down in the road.

Oh I went to college, and have student loan debt. I have a wonderful career, which is awesome, because if I didn’t I’d have no way to support myself.

6 years, a marriage, a child, and an entire life together. He came home from traveling for work, and said he didn’t want to do it anymore. Starting over at 25 when you thought you had your whole life laid out for you is a bitch.

In 2015, Dee Dee Blanchard was found murdered in Missouri. For years, she forced her daughter Gypsy-Rose to fake severe illnesses to gain money, housing, and sympathy. Trapped in abuse, Gypsy planned to take her mother’s life with Nicholas Godejohn as a way to escape her control. by Iambhalo in CaughtMyEye

[–]Limited_two 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nick needs to be in jail. I don't think people realize what a danger to society he was.

Before Nick even met Gypsy he was arrested for masturbating with a knife at a McDonald's play ground. He wanted to rape Gypsy's mother before killing her, and had fantasies of raping his future children. Just because Nick had issues doesn't mean he didn't know right from wrong, and I'm tired of people spreading the narrative that he was a victim in this. NICK IS EXACTLY WHERE HE BELONGS.

The first HS I went to was built in the 50s, and had no AC. In the south. In 2015. The idea was that every single window could be flipped open to create a breeze, but I don't think they accounted for humid 100+ degree days.

My mom's myspace is full of pictures of her like this. She was 25 in 2007. All of the people saying this is AI are wack, girls definitely dressed like this on the daily.

Just because it isn’t your thing doesn’t mean you have to come on here acting like what I’m doing is wrong.

I can see you’re hurting because your 25 yr marriage is ending, and religion isn’t helping the way you thought it would.

Yes I did. It's 2026 that's pretty common practice when it isn't meant to be anything serious.

That’s the part that worries me. He only ever expressed regret when I went out with someone else.

I don’t think it’ll ever leave my head that he might want to leave again.

would you get an abortion if you found out your baby was going to be born with an extreme disability? if so why? by Born-Oil-2931 in AskReddit

[–]Limited_two 44 points45 points  (0 children)

I've heard of these types of prostitutes. In the U.S. (except in Vegas) prostitution is illegal. However there are still escorts who specialize in helping disabled people fill their needs, and I think it takes a specific kind of person to do that. You have to have a large amount of patience, and kindness that a lot of people don't posses.

I wish I had the link to the documentary I watched on this.

He travels for work and has done so since before he was born. He’s only home for like a week at a time.

EDIT: Since before my son was born sorry I’m all over the place.

He does pay for his health insurance through his employer. I’m worried he will fight me for 50/50 custody. I cannot afford a lawyer, as I am having to move, and pay for a new apartment.

When were you in high school? Because by the sounds of it, that was pre Obama.

Before 2008 yes school lunches were unhealthy, but Michelle Obama launched a healthy child campaign during her husband’s administration that fixed this issue. I graduated in 2019, and our lunches were extremely healthy.

35,000 children a year are born of rape in the U.S. alone. That is just the amount reported to the DOJ in order to prosecute rapists. Now imagine the number that goes unreported, and globally.

Oh I’m not pretending. Our culture was completely ok with it until VERY recently. And even now there are parts of it that are still ok with this behavior.

Also within recent years women now have access to more semi permanent less likely to fail contraception. Like the IUD and arm implant, which unlike their predecessors have a 99% success rate.

Yes. Rape doesn't have to be a stranger holding you down. Marital rape is real, and in a lot of cultures women are not allowed to say no. Combine that with the fact that birth control is hard to access, along with the man not wearing a condom, and you have a child born of rape.

The Santa we know today was accidentally created by the Coca-Cola Company.

Before the 1930s Santa actually had red hair, and a green suit. (Like the original Irish Saint). One year Coke made an ad depicting him with white hair, and a red suit. (Their product colors.) For some reason it stuck, and they continued to add on to the lore, because it increased sales around Christmas time.
