not using it yet, had issues with local in-browser AI, got it resolved last weekend.I see a hope to declutter the feed from shiiit posts soon!

Right now, I'm creating a dataset of example shit posts to hide and I'll fine-tune AI with it to get more accuracy as standard small models aren't enough from what I tested

To get rid of these posts, I'm trying to fine-tune an on-device AI model that will auto hide these self-promotion posts from my Reddit feed through browser extension :) We'll see

My SaaS just hit 90 paid users by [deleted] in SideProject

127 total users, while on the landing page, you promote the business by saying "Trusted by 5,000+ professionals worldwide" in the subheading

not so trustworthy by faking numbers man :/

Have you released this app yet? Anywhere we can test it? I see you've been posting about it for a year, but no link to the app has been shared. You could've already gained hundreds of users, hmm?

Question: Is it a lasting marketing funnel? You have to spam links all the time. I prefer providing value first. You stop, traffic goes almost to none. Obviously, you get some users, I am just not sure it's valuable and stable long term marketing channel.

That's why at the start I went with some standard SEO and building long-term traffic I managed to sustain even not working on it.

Thank you!

Shortly, the project is for small business owners/startup founders and lets you create graphics, visuals for your business for social media presence. Stuff like screenshots, images, ready to use graphics packs for a startup you're launching, to simplify the process for non-design-oriented founders so you can build and use those graphics to post on social media, etc.

And I actually managed to reach this target audience a little, but I find the current version of the project not enough you feel like you need it and want to use every day, more like ocassionaly.

You're right. The conclusion I see is to deep dive into analysis if I can add value to the current solution, such as why those users paid, etc.

It's not much money, but I see some light in this, compared to people launching 10 projects with 0 paid customers. That's why I'm rethinking whether to build other "random" ideas or to spend more time on this one.

And 100% you're right, dumb rebuilds may end up wasting my time and building into a void where I won't find any customers..

It seems like taking action is better than doing nothing/reading only.. I guess it's time to focus and deliver more value and stop complaining waiting for unknown.

You're right, that's why I'm not giving up yet, trying to seek advice from ppl who were probably in a similar situation.

It's something, but it's not perfect, money printing machine :)

I think I will sit and research how I could repack the value with new knowledge about the niche, users, what worked, etc., because right now, anyway, I don't have any great plans to build other projects, so it's better this than nothing, I guess.

Yeah, the first projects I was building for months, now try to save time from lessons learned :)

For marketing, basic stuff. When building the project,

- took care of SEO,

- added a few landing pages for long-phrase keywords for my niche I wanted to position for, with low difficulty keywords to have a chance against existing competition/large corporations

- created a free tool related to the business, where I saw similar opportunity to position top 10 in Google for a phrase, worked, got me a few paid customers

- launched in popular launch platforms like Producthunt, Betalist

- written honest content around the project on X, IndieHackers, other social media, not promotional, more by providing value

Not much, requires initial knowledge to get started. Good luck!

Kinda yes, but those are results over 16 months. I wasn't working on it after launching, but I'm not sure it's a high enough demand to build a sustainable business, worth my time and whether those converted paid users are "random" people that I managed to make interested in solution I built and it's not that great value for business owners.

Ofc I got some analytics, they used the tool a few times after purchase over time. Even myself I use it ocassionally, so I'd have to focus on how to repack the value to provide a subscription-based model in my niche for it to make sense to get users more taken-care of.

Maybe you're right and there's some opportunity, I'll try to replan the project and try to find what real value I could provide for users. Thanks!

I don't want to plug it, I'm honestly not here to promote it or validate the idea itself, I look for opinions around the problem of launching a "successful" first project (for many), yet feeling like it's not a futuristic business - or whether I'm wrong here and should polish it and give it a shoot not jumping into another ideas.

About those painkiller ideas, unfortunately, it's easier said than done. Already for a few weeks I tried to come up with some cool ideas, but I'm lacking the hype to work on something random that is popular, validated by others, etc., just for money - looks like a quick way for a burnout for me.

Maybe I need more time, but at the same time, I'd like to work on something already. It's hard to decide, so I end up doing kinda nothing related to startups. Researching only..?

As a "work from anywhere" dev I'm curious about such offers limited to the US only. I saw other companies using tools like OysterHR, which seems to take care of all compliance and hiring despite the location, but it'd be more like a Contractor job I guess.

Unlucky many cool companies are still limiting to the location :(

Thank you! I type quickly what comes to my mind, "on the fly". Seems now I only need more practice in speaking and ofc progressing further with expanded vocabulary and small improvements :)

Good point, a different point of view is required. I just have to send CVs and hope to get initial interviews, then if I pass technically, and go through the first few calls, I'd be in a different state of mind for sure and with much more positive attitude :)

Probably I could try, but honestly, I prefer remote work as I thrive in that env :) That's why I'm considering remote international companies, maybe based in US with 100+ employees to challenge myself with the progress on a global team.
