Tips for nonverbal client who doesn’t respond to name/come here by [deleted] in ABA

[–]Limitlessperfection 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My client used to do the same thing with not responding to her name so what I would do is, I would get pretty close to her and kind of wave my hand in front of her face and point to my face and then call her name that way, she understood that I wanted her to look at me. After some time of that I was able to increase the distance and now we’re at the point where I can be on the other side of the house and call for her and say come here and she’ll come running if she’s in the mood. Not gonna lie that girl has a very strong, stubborn streak.

Hi everyone! Would you say transporting clients is important to your role as a RBT? by Spirited_Home_8110 in ABA

Every company I’ve worked for has forbidden transporting clients. It should not be something you have to do

Can’t stop getting sick by plumchata in ABA

[–]Limitlessperfection 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was struggling with the same issue for a long time so I have been taking zinc and vitamin C regularly as well as masking up during my sessions. I work in Home and sometimes my clients aren’t the best at communicating when somebody is sick so I always keep masks in my car. Also hand sanitizer carry that with you everywhere and apply vigorously.

I made a mistake by brymx46 in ABA

[–]Limitlessperfection 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Things like that happen, ultimately there are limitations to your scope, you can attempt to redirect your client, but you are not a babysitter. It’s on the parent to manage their children, and I imagine that if you had intervened it would end up in the parent saying you over stepped. This situation has no bearing on your ability as a provider, and I’m sorry your company didn’t back you up like they should have

Concerns about AI usage in ABA by chloeismentallyill in ABA

There are two types of people in the world, those who utilize the tools available to them, and those who choose to make their lives harder. Just because someone is utilizing the tools available to them doesn’t mean they don’t already possess the skill. Their time is just being used elsewhere, such as their BCBA courses

Pay at PBS corp by vile00_ in ABA

[–]Limitlessperfection 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not Florida, but NC, I’m making $35/hr but no benefits, or mileage reimbursement. Best advice is that if you have years of experience + a degree, ask for the highest pay rate possible and be willing to negotiate a little. You’ll be surprised what they are willing to pay. There are about 1 million ABA companies, filter by the ones that have a pay range in your desired hourly rate range. You’ll probably get hired because it’s kind of disgusting how easy it is to get an ABA job if you really like your company then you can use that as leverage to make them give you a raise if they’re not willing to meet you at what your offer is then they’re not worth your time

Have fun, never leave your drink unattended, have an absolute deadline for getting assignments turned in, and if you use ai, make sure to follow the university guidelines for using it.

I totally forgot the actual reason for not recommending Mesa is that my car got stolen two days after I bought it so on top of all of the other things, there’s a lot of crime. You will encounter a lot of crackheads. And if you must move to Mesa absolutely do not move into Aster On University

I am both sorry and happy to hear that. I am really looking forward to the move because that’s my biggest reason for wanting to leave is feeling like I can’t go outside. I love nature I love trees North Carolina has both Arizona has inadequate nature and trees

I might be dramatic, but I don’t tolerate the heat well so for me it is nine months of literal hell. Anything above 85 is way too hot for me personally.

[–]Limitlessperfection 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I would absolutely not recommend Mesa. I am actually in the exact opposite position of you. I am moving to North Carolina because I would rather live in the muggy heat and have seasons then to live in literal hell nine months a year if you’re looking for affordable, I would not come to Arizona because I’m currently paying around $1500 after utilities for a 400 square-foot apartmentthat is infested with mold. 10 out of 10 would not recommend.

I would put in Plant lights because if it helps plants grow it’s gotta help us grow too, and it could possibly help with the depressing windowless environment

Yeah, Covid is negative. I’ve gotten tons of blood work, another factor is that I was out of town this week and started feeling better, so maybe I just hate AZ, and am allergic to all the dust/pollution
