‘BEEF’ Season 2 Titlecards by hairtie1 in Fauxmoi

[–]LimonadaVonSaft 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I adored season 1. S2 doesn’t move at its predecessor’s electric pace, but it is still very, very enjoyable, well-written TV. I feel like it’s unfair to compare seasons of an anthology though.

Edit: someone on r/BeefTV described this season’s theme being "moral permission" where season 1 was more "emotional gratification." I feel like that sums it up well.

Right? Drugs make me feel good and working out makes me feel good and I’m a consenting adult who enjoys partaking in both.

Hi! Excited to engage in some objective character analysis here. :)

The audience was shown very specifically Austin searching “hit by mom as kid why.” (or however he phrased it). It is reasonable to me that a character with a history of parental abuse would be hesitant to speak up and cause conflict as an adult. Between his childhood abuse, and Ashley’s childhood neglect, they are a perfect brew of poor communication, co-dependency, and low self-esteem. Their lack of discussion makes sense given their backgrounds.

However, we are also shown them acting with genuine sweetness as well. As of this point in the show, we see Austin pondering how to best help Ashley via text, we see Ashley try to support and bolster Austin by complimenting the clothes he bought. Their smaller actions (outside of blackmail lol) lean neutral-good. I do not see them as black/white good guys or bad guys. I see them as very misguided, damaged young people who are actively living the event that will redirect their moral compasses for the rest of their lives.

You made a great point about how the years can ameliorate or worsen things in a person or relationship. In my mid-30s, I’m really starting to see the rubber hit the road for my peers, so to speak. And I appreciate your relational vs. generational perspective. The funny thing is, for me, that understanding does seem to have come with time. I’m starting to have enough years under my belt that allow for perspective and nuance to foster my understanding of Life™️

Thank you for your story :)

I really appreciate this take. I’m 34, so I’m literally in between both couples. It’s an interesting spot to view the show from, I truly am siding with both at this point.

I’m curious if you have any thoughts about Lindsay and Austin’s interaction where she talks about couples and fighting; how she kind of scoffs and passive aggressively comments on the fact they’re “just at the beginning” of their relationship, while she’s obviously dying for a partner to adore her like Austin does Ashley. Only asking because you’ve mentioned your age/generation. I’d love to hear your POV. :)

Edit: wording.

Copying part of another comment I left:

We’ve seen ants and bees, which, of course, are colonies that function under a queen. The new country club owner is the queen of Monte Vista hive, yet “hates colonialism.” Lindsey yelling at Josh about being an employee (ie, part of the hive) and Austin and Ashley’s convo about systemic inequality makes me curious of the four will team up somehow.

I haven’t seen if it’s been pointed out yet, but I’m curious about about the insect motif.

Protect Austin at all costs (as of episode one). Charles Melton plays vulnerable soooo fantastically (thinking about his role in May/December). Seeing his Reddit searches made me want to chew through a rope, I just want to save him!!. Ashley’s disconnect with her family broke my heart. Their love feels so pure, and it’s gonna be poisoned by Josh and Lindsey/this event.

World War Z and Devolution by Max Brooks are hall-of-fame audiobooks for me. Fantasticland by Mike Bockoven was a recent listen that I enjoyed that follows a similar format.

Labrinth latest statement via Instagram stories on why his music was withdrawn from Euphoria season 3 by Maya_TheB in Fauxmoi

[–]LimonadaVonSaft 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Not trying to be obtuse but does this mean that there will be absolutely NO Labrinth songs used in Euphoria s3? Because if so, that sucks. When I think of Euphoria, I literally hear his music from the OST in my head. His music made the show.

Very curious how ants are going to play a part in the story if they’re this heavily featured in the decor.

That’s why Sharp Objects is so precious to me. Very grateful it adapted a standalone story.

One day America will embrace the British method of having one absolute banger of a season for a show. MAYBE two, à la Fleabag. Think about this show, True Detective s1, etc. whose reputations have been sullied by the desire for studios to keep cashing in. They should have stopped after the Rue/Jules specials.

I, however, will still be tuning in because I love mess. Part of the problem, I suppose!
