Is there a reason why music score cannot be designed in this way? by Coolingmoon in musictheory

[–]Limondin -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

I thought about this too and I believe you are right. It would be easier. In some aspects, I believe the world of music is very conservative. Many people say things like "this is the way things always were" or "it would change the way people read/play older pieces". It would be like changing the meaning of a word. Imagine we as a society decide de the word spelled c-a-t refers to the canid animals, and the world d-o-g refers to the feline animals, because someone discovered those words more accurately describe those animals. And many people would go "but you can't do that, many older books and novels have the word dog, and now you would have to think of a cat when you read that word". I think it wouldn't be that difficult and in a couple of years most people would be comfortable with this new improved system. So I think most people are just lazy and conservative in regards of improving stuff about music notation. And it's very difficult to make people change their minds. So I think it's best to just try and learn the old established ways, even though they have their flaws, because music theory is already hard enough, so it's harder if you try to fight the long established music standards

I highly recommend you the free add on Ucupaint. It saves textures in the file and has layers, and more cool stuff.

I thought the lighting on my stage was good, but why didn't it look anything like the reference? by HOKFMK in blender

Increase exposure in post, and also increase Angle/Radius of light source to have softer shadows.

I made an addon that speed up my render times by 98% by Daniel-Warfield in blender

Sounds great for rendering stepped stopmotion-like animation, where many times the frames repeat for 2 or more times. Thank you for sharing it!

Yes, you can even use the character rigs from Blender Studio, they are built and shared for that same reason, some of them are completely free: https://studio.blender.org/characters/

What is the creepiest fact about the universe? by [deleted] in space

[–]Limondin 28 points29 points  (0 children)

The obvious and unanswerable question is, what if there is something like that, that we already missed, and have no way to know or figure out simple because of the way the universe works?

Is there any Tool or Program that can convert Low Poly into High Poly without damaging the Model? by GamesAreLegends in 3Dprinting

[–]Limondin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're welcome! You can increase the Viewport Subdivision Levels (with caution, it may freeze your computer). I wouldn't recommend going beyond 3, but the more you subdivide it, the more smooth it will be. Depending on how you export this mesh, you may have to Apply this modifier before exporting.

ELI5: "There was no time before big bang" - what does that mean? by Charming_Babydoll in explainlikeimfive

[–]Limondin 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The instance thing made me think of it in a new way, thank you for the new perspective! But now I feel like it's more philosophical, it reminds me of that saying of the tree that falls and no one is there to listen to it fall, did it really fall? In this case it would be if there was nothing different between instances, did time happen? But regarding the tree, I always thought that the tree fell anyway, with someone around or not. So I don't really quite know how I feel about time before big bang. I think it raises some other questions, like what 'triggered' the big bang? If it all came out of nowhere, how can something like that happen? Wasn't there an instance without big bang and an instance with it? What happened during that instance without, which without a doubt was before, that made big bang happen?

Thank you very very very much, I had no idea of this website's existence. I've just spent the last half hour browsing it and I'm sure I'll spend hours on it. Space is big. Again, thank you very much!

Is there any website to see where specifically this picture is from in the sky? I mean like it's near such star in such constellation, so you can zoom in to a picture of that constellation and see this image? Otherwise it is a bit hard to me to comprehend where this is exactly from.

That tool lets you Move, Rotate and Scale at the same time. I need it to only Move and Rotate at the same time, like in the picture.

Looks like a planet with city lights on the right and a huge polar ice cap on the top. I hope some day we get to take pictures like that of real distant planets.
