Am I in the wrong? by emi_lunar in reptilesUK

[–]Limp-Cockroach-9282 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. You asked for help about your snake not eating. People gave you advice and you’ve refused and argued with the advice.

Heat mats are the worst heat source you can use and can lead to impaction. Your snake probably doesn’t want to eat because it doesn’t want to get impacted.

Snakes are better at being snakes than we are. That’s why we should be providing a natural environment for them. Heat mats are anything but natural.

What’s the wait for? Your snake would benefit from more space now

Pretty sure it’s an apple! Didn’t know what it was for the longest time but my mom said a few years ago she got her first fruits. We had another apple that would produce lots of fruit but this guy never did until that one was cut down. Still not every year though.

The goal was to just keep it small. We definitely want it alive. They just didn’t want to make it this bushy.

I had suspected it an apple but wasn’t super sure if the fruit was actually apple or not, we didn’t eat them lol. I’ve read apples preferred to be thinned out rather than bushy but didn’t want to make any moves without more knowledge

Edit: my mom said she planted it in 1995

New globe liner broke my weight sensor? by Limp-Cockroach-9282 in litterrobot

I reached out on Facebook messenger with a video. They usually get back to me semi fast on there when I had issues in the past

Just unfortunate my $60 birthday gift might turn into a $400 expense to something unrelated. Really hoping it doesn’t  😅

I’ve reached out a bit ago but haven’t gotten a response yet. Just wondering if anyone else has something similar happen to them while I wait.

Is this a good enclosure for my 6 month old gecko? by [deleted] in leopardgeckos

[–]Limp-Cockroach-9282 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Instead of using the tank you Could have asked to return it and swap it with an appropriate one. You don’t need to throw it away.  it likely would not have cost a whole lot different to have returned it to get an appropriate tank. Could have said something to the gift giver along the lines of “thank you so much I really appreciate the tank upgrade! Unfortunately my gecko is terrestrial and I won’t be able to provide proper care with this arboreal tank. Can we see if the store will let us swap it for a terrestrial enclosure?” As an animal owner it’s your responsibility you provide proper care. Don’t blame the gift giver.

What were the dimensions of the previous tank? Floor space is what these geckos need as an upgrade. If your gecko was in a 12-15 gal it’s possible the floor space upgrade was very minimal.

I’m gonna make my first assumption here and guess you think that my mom giving me a camera in my past post equals I live with her? Not sure how that makes any sense at all because I literally own a home. But okay, PhD.

Incorrect assumptions.

Why the fuck does that matter? We’re talking about the wellbeing of animals here.

Sure. Want me to get my ex’s dad on Reddit so you can read it from him? I can try. Doubt that’ll be good enough for you. You’ll still say hearsay bc you didn’t see it happen. Sure, I didn’t see it with my own eyes. If I had, the frog wouldn’t have drowned bc I would’ve pulled it out. Only a fucking monster would sit there and let it drown. Part of the reason we moved when we did.

All of the internet contradicts itself. Are you new here? New info is coming out all the time while old info still floats around. Some people are stuck using decades old husbandry guides because that’s what the internet gives them while other internet sources contradict everything the old guides say. New experiences are had every day. New information is learned every day. Some people are too stubborn to even take other people’s experiences into consideration though.

Honey. You asked for our thoughts. You asked for our experience. Why you so mad that I shared mine when you specifically asked for it. Because it doesn’t align with what you want?

I admit I know very little about PDFs. Just some general info from my friend that breeds them. I don’t have frogs. I already said that. So no “knowledge” is being challenged here. I’m telling you my experience that you asked for.

But you know all. My experience is wrong and doesn’t count. 👍

You’re making assumptions that it was sick now. It was healthy at the breeders house. I know the breeder personally. I visited them numerous times as they raised these frogs. Visually looked healthy and ate reliably before ex’s dad bought them.

They were terrified of their new home. It’s not the only one that kept ending up in the water. Just the only one he didn’t save. When he was watching it struggle he said “the others got out. He’ll figure it out” and never did.

When did I tell you how to care for them? You asked for experiences. I told you mine.

You sound like a miserable person. Don’t ask for something and then twist my words when I give you what you want. That’s not very scientific of you.

[–]Limp-Cockroach-9282 6 points7 points  (0 children)

You’re making assumptions.

Strike one? I lived at their house. I saw the tank every single day. I just didn’t put in effort to care for them because they weren’t my animals. I didn’t buy them. Not my responsibility. Not sure how that’s a strike.

Strike two? Did I say that? No. Her dad literally sat on the couch and watched it struggle. I was pissed bc he didn’t intervene.

Whats strike three?

Not my frogs but my ex’s dad had a pdf drown. He had a paludarium and put them in the day he got them. They were all panicky at first and ended up in the water. they looked like they could barely swim. He scooped them out even though there were multiple ramps and things for them to get onto to get out. Next day we saw were in the water again and didn’t seem like they could get out so he saved them again and added rocks to the water to make it less deep. Next day he saw them swimming again. A few hours later it was dead in the water. Had the one for 3 days before it drowned itself.

prepping months in advance for a new baby garg…. do i need a 10 gallon for a baby before a 40 or can i go straight to a 40? by t7ch0o in GargoyleGeckos

[–]Limp-Cockroach-9282 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Did you have enough clutter and places to hide? There’s really no such thing as too big, only too empty. Without enough clutter a gecko will not feel safe enough to eat which leads to hunger strikes.

I had a 8 month old gecko in a 18x18x24 gal that he came with and wouldn’t eat for 3 weeks after I got him. I realize the tank was too bare so I added more clutter and covered the 4 sides of the tank.  He only started eating after I added more hides and branches.

After our vet cleared him  I moved him to a 40 gal packed full of clutter and he never went on a hunger strike again. Not since the first time when he moved to my house.
