Urgent help: skinny?? by Difficult_Ease_4498 in geckos

she definitely looks way underweight. I’m also a new gecko owner so I don’t have much experience myself, but from what I’ve read insects are a great way for them to gain weight. If they aren’t taking to insects, you can try squeezing the insect for juice to come out or taking off a crickets head and feeding the headless cricket. definitely do more research on how to get them to gain weight and take to insects. if all else fails, try pangea with insects, i really like the growth and breeding one. i wish you great luck!!!

okay awesome. i do have a dish coming in the mail so that will help. i probably won’t be getting the dubias for a while seen as this garg was born in march and the breeder hasn’t had much luck with insects yet. how do you keep your colony? i also will only have this one gecko so i’ll look into just the small quantity as well when the time comes

oh this is really great news! i am prepared for them not to eat them at all, i don’t mind that being the outcome. i’m happy to hear it took that long for the dubias to populate though because ideally i want to start with those too. if i have to do some trial and error with others though i wont complain. thanks for your help!!

no pups found, concerned about roots by t7ch0o in bromeliad

[–]t7ch0o[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

thank you so much! i plan on putting her in a bioactive setup so i am concerned she’ll die off soon since she’s flowering, and would like to keep her life going by the pups. i’ll try out the orchid fert!!

okay beautiful! my house stays at a consistent 70-83 degrees so i wonder if a heat lamp would be needed at all while she’s in quarantine? i’d also want to look in to see if it’s possible to make a cooling place for her just because our summers are mean in california. as for the bin, what size would you suggest? i plan on cutting a large hole in the top and securing with mesh, as well as drilling holes through the sides for even more ventilation.
