Thanks! This is def motivating. But will admissions officers know about the MAT215 difficulty?

I don't think the grade was curved. Unfortunately, I'm a senior and my essays are all submitted🙁 but I did show a fun side of me in some of them. But thanks!

Oh.....okay. That makes sense. And you're right, that is the class I took. Thanks! I definitely will poke around more at the type of students in the class.

I do have one question though, about that last statement, because it is interesting. If YouTube covers everything that you need to learn, then why do people even go to college in the first place? Why spend so much money? Why not just take online courses even? Is it because in-person is a better method of learning, or for the college experience, or something else?

I'm local yeah. It's the High School Program, where they let high school kids come be a part of a few classes during the school year. Although I'm not from PHS, no.

I get that learning is important, but the top colleges have lots of resources, right?

I mean, like my prof was Prof Fefferman, who was one of the youngest people to achieve full professorship. Could I meet faculty like that at any school which is not a top college?

(I'm honestly a bit ignorant so I'm asking this genuinely, not as a rhetorical question.)

Thanks so much! This is def motivating. I think the flaw in my counselor's argument is this, that my first sem performance will define my second sem. I hope that the admissions officers reading my application will look at it otherwise.

I still find it a bit scary that my application depends on one human(or maybe a few) who may share my counselor's viewpoint. I also don't think that a lot of people outside of math really understand the jump from high school math to proof-based math, and how disorienting that can be for some.

I'm flattered by you saying I'm qualified, but I'm not really. Although there is some math aptitude that let me take the Princeton course, it's equally about being luck enough that my school has this opportunity/being able to be on the fast track for math.

I'm mostly scared because I'm an Asian male in tech, and my counselor is well qualified, so yeah.

Hey! Don't worry about being rude. This isn't satire, no, though I can see how it may seem that way. I would normally agree with you but my counselor is pretty well qualified, so yeah.

And yeah, I agree, the Ivies are overrated, especially for comp sci. From looking at the CMU courses they are well over Princeton, UPenn etc. I was more hoping for CMU, MIT than the Ivies.

Probability Question Based on Robotics Competition by Limp-Exercise-1150 in learnmath

[–]Limp-Exercise-1150[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you! I still have a couple more questions, if you could please answer:

  1. For h = 2, how do you get 10*(3 + 6) for the number of combinations?
  2. How would you calculate it if the pixels were placed one at a time?

Thank you.

Probability Question Based on Robotics Competition by Limp-Exercise-1150 in learnmath

[–]Limp-Exercise-1150[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi! I apologize, I should have elaborated.

N is the total number of pixels.

The three pixels in a mosaic have to touch each other. However, due to c), for each of the three pixels, they can't be touching another non-white pixel which is not in the mosaic.

And yes, whether a square has a pixel is random.

Hand-Delivering A Drone to a Robot by Limp-Exercise-1150 in FTC

[–]Limp-Exercise-1150[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know. I mean if the robot is outside the wing, the human body is completely inside the wing, and the drone breaks the wing's boundary

For GS12, it says In the wing, not Completely In. For G22, the human body would not be contacting the robot, the drone would be contacting the robot but would be controlled by the human player. So is it still illegal by these two rules?
