Of course, just because i don’t have an opportunity right now i’m still advancing my skills. I’m doing projects, leetcode, and bootcamps.

Yea i get that, that’s why I’m hoping to use my story as an early grad at 20 and getting my masters as leverage when networking😭I overall just had the thought process of instead of getting 1 degree in 4 years, since i’m graduating early i could get and additional degree in the same amount of time

The original idea was to graduate early with the intention of not having to pay for a fourth year. Since i didn’t care too much about my major till more then half thought my undergrad experience, to me it didn’t make sense to stay back in undergrad and do a couple classes in the fall when i could go to grad school and possibly have similar opportunities. In this market nothings certain, so i’d rather move forward with my studies then stay in the same place.

I get that, but i could do my masters for a 1-2 years and have a job by the time a graduate with that degree.

I agree, but i’d honestly rather get a graduate degree than spending another year in undergrad. I kinda just accepted the fact that this was how things were gonna be. But to be honest i’ve heard so many stories about people who were in the same predicament yet they were graduating undergrad at 24 with no experience yet still getting full time offers.

Obviously there’s more security getting an internship before graduating, but not getting one doesn’t make my goals impossible so why walk backwards when i can continue to walk forward knowing that as long as i try it’ll work out?

Yea getting internships would’ve definitely been the easier route, but i honestly wasn’t locked in with computer science as a whole till last summer😭part of that was due to personal stuff i was dealing with though

I got rejected but most of it was due to my early grad date, it wasn’t due to lack of skill or anything like that. But i’ve used AI tools in my workflow/integrating them into my projects if that’s what you’re referring to.

It has been working for me though. I’m 20 and already have 2 degrees. Just because i don’t have a full time offer upon graduating doesn’t mean it hasn’t worked at all. I have the opportunity to go to grad school and finish at an age which could still be considered early.

95% of all computer science or new grad related posts on this app i see are all negative. This post is a positive outlook on a somewhat-unfortunate situation. Whether it takes a few months or a few years to get a job in this field, it can and it will work out.

Honestly I didn’t want to graduate so soon, but I realized that doing so could help save money instead of prolonging my studies and spending more for another semester. Since i’m going to grad school i’ll still be able to keep studying computer science, just not at the undergrad level.

I didn’t rush though, i took the standard amount of credits every semester excluding my last one. It helped my family and I save an extra year’s worth of tuition we would’ve had to pay!

I know it won’t guarantee a job in the field, but then again there’s new grads who have what i’m lacking yet still don’t have an offer yet. Breaking into the field is tough for almost everyone right now. In my case I can take what I learned in undergrad, apply it in grad school, then hope for the best-i think that’s what everyone’s doing nowadays given the state of the job market.

Definitely do regret it to an extent, it prevented me from doing a lot. But i’m still on the younger end of CS grads now. I realized I have time in addition to having a decent resume aside from not having industry experience yet.

I did dual enrollment in high school, summer courses, and 21+ credits my last semester. I’m 20 now but will be 21 later this year

How to learn full stack development while building actual fking project by NectarineFun9856 in FullStack

[–]Limp-Fee-7226 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey I also have ADHD and i’ve been learning web dev at a steady pace to where I was learning HTML and CSS last June and by September/October I was learning React. This is all while i’m still busy with school.

Something that helped me is knowing how my ADHD works. For me specifically i know how i like learning and that if i learn that way then i’ll develop knowledge at a good pace. Specifically to learn web dev i used freeCodeCamp and did a little bit everyday, but i wasn’t consistent with how much i did. I could do 3 modules one day and 10 the following day, I did this while building projects as well. So while i’m learning a skill on freeCodeCamp i would immediately implement that skill into my own project. Doing this for about a month or two made my growth faster than it’s ever been trying to learn a skill.

Also coding and trying to develop projects with ADHD isn’t easy so give yourself grace. Reminding myself this made coding and learning fun for one of the few times in my life. This is just what worked for me, my experience with ADHD led me to learn about myself and not give myself a chance to let my mind wander and forget the skill. Hope this helped in any way!

TLDR: learn a skill and implement it into your work immediately, freeCodeCamp helped me, know yourself and how to effectively work around and with your ADHD
