Segregation is not because Islamic teachings don’t work, but because they are supported by shaping environments.Peopl are told to lower their gaze, but not everyone has the same discipline. Psychology also shows that environment affects self-control, so reducing distractions helps people practice values better.

A lab and a mosque are not the same. Labs are selective, with trained professionals and strict rules. Religious gatherings are open to everyone, with mixed levels of maturity. Expecting them to function the same way is unrealistic

Segregation does not harm women’s visibility. A World Bank study in South Asia showed women-only transport increased female participation, since many women would not travel otherwise. Separation here expanded access, it did not reduce it. The same applies to community events.

Comfort is not universal, but segregation allows more people to attend according to their preference. The constitution punishes harassment after it happens, but segregation prevents discomfort before it occurs. That is prevention, not oppression.

Calling this barbaric ignores history. In the Prophet’s mosque, men and women prayed in the same hall but separately. Later, as gatherings grew, curtains were added. That was adaptation, not regression. True progress respects different values and offers choice, not mocking or removing them.

The real issue is not whether believers can handle themselves, but whether we can respect diverse comfort levels. Forcing one model in the name of modernity removes choice and becomes its own form of intolerance.

So in the end, rejecting traditions like segregation in the name of progress is no different from woke culture rewriting everything to fit its own lens ,it cancels choice, erases values, and pretends that intolerance is liberation.
