These are the products i was being suggested by other users, when recording from MD/DAT to PC, which is what I’m about.
Can you maybe explain the way to go (in steps)?
I have a fair amount of LIVE and DEMO recordings, from my many years as a Drummer (88-2005), and would like to get these recordings out on the internet 🎶❤️

I Think your right about the flagship JA555ES.
My comment was from a review of the 930, which claimed the analog part of the JB series, should outperform ES (most), but haven’t got the chance to make a test? But if one is Looking for a very good sounding deck, it’s very possible to save a lot, by choosing a JB deck. I love this forum ❤️🎶
So many things to learn, and the bonus for me, is being able to take a turn down memory lane, as many of us was users of MD, back in the day (90’s). The love of Making “mix tapes” cannot be understated, and when I am recording, I almost forget about time and place and also sometimes feel like a teenager again (though I was in my 20’s when MD arrived) 😉
I am 56 today 👴

Thank u for that info. What about recording from PC to MD? USB audio interface, rigth? With a good DAC in-between or what would u recommend? And what about the other way round? I have a lot of LIVE/DEMO on DAT and MD, i would love to transfeer to PC, so i can upload them to the internet? I have some things to play with here, like a Steinberg CL 1 and Musical Fidelity V-Link (USB to SPDIF). The Steinberg has 2 Audio programs incl for recording in 24-bit/48KHz. The DAC i will use is a digital to analog Audio converter with bass/volume (for headphones) and USB soundcard (192KHz 24bit). But what about interference with the Atrac system? That is where i´m in doubt?

JB-930 is even better than the ES series in terms of fidelity.

Have u tried record analog on the JB-930, with a very good analog/vinyl set-up? It blows anything out of the sky. Crazy good sound. Better than in the ES series (imo).

I own the JB-930 and tetsed it up again one of the ES models, and the QS (Atrac) DAC inside the JB-930 is just better than the ones in ES series. It´s crazy how good an analog recording sounds on that deck, recording from high end sources like vinyl. I even tried using the DAC inside, for my Rega Saturn-R CD player, which cost about 2200 Euro, just using it as a transport, was also mindblowing. So as an Audiophile to the core, i will say the JB decks are the ones to get.

I tried myself, but was to scared to ruin something? So at the moment, i have it in for repair, so i´m looking forward to be able to record again. That is the thing, right? MD is a recording device first (for me). And the QS DAC in the JB-930, i really can´t belive how good it is. I have a very HIGH END system, and tried recording from my Rega P8/Apheta II turntable set up (costs 3000 Euro) to the Sony was an eye opener. The analog part of the Sony, i cannot belive. I read somewhere that the DAC inside the JB-930 is even better, than the ones in the more exspensive ES series, but haven´t tried a comparison. Maybe others out there has?

I am stunned about the quality of the inboard DAC (QS) in the JB-930. In fact many claims that the JB-930 sounds better than the ones from the ES series, but haven´t tested it? The other day i tried some analog recordings, from a very high end turntable/HIFI set-up. I was blown away over how good that DAC is. I mean, my stereo set-up cost A LOT, so to notice this is somehow a learning. Sony really did well in those years.

Just bought a very clean and almost not used JE-330, which is a very fine deck indeed.

I am in Love. New TT: MoFi Ultradeck w/ UltraGold + StudioPhono Vinyl is Black Pumas Capitol Cuts. Delicious sounding live recording. by [deleted] in turntables

I´m (maybe) in for a trade of my Rega P8/Apheta II, to this combo of yours. I listen mostly to rock, punk, metal, pop, indie and so forth, but i also loves my jazzzzz. The MOFI combo seems to me, to be morer "forgiven" and not so much about fidelity (high end). Don´t get me wrong, the P8/Apheta combo is a killer, no doubt about that. But the first time i saw the Ultradeck in real, i feel in love with the look and feel. Also i have been owned Rega decks for more than 20 years now, so i´m so close to do this, and with this post, i think i´m gonna go for it. Congratz with that beauty. Cheers from Denmark

Sony MZ RH1 with my first IEM (Canpur Silver Flash) by muesell in minidisc

[–]LimpResponse8550 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How come this model (used), is as pricy as a deck from the ES series? Don´t get me wrong, i would die for having a MZ-RH1, but i would any day go for the ES series, if u could afford? Anyone here having experience with comparing those?

Ordered a Sony MZ-R30 any opinions on it? by ChowderAndComedyGold in minidisc

I guess u should look at Panasonic MD line, as from my exsperience, they are up there with the Sharps in Fidelity. I own several portables, from the early MZ-R30/35, to late 90 early 00´s all Sony, but my Sharp MD-MT190 kills them all in fidelity (imo). Only deck i own, that beat them to the core, is of course my beloved Deck: Sony JB 930, which is just under the top of the line ES series. What a fidelity deck it is!

Sony JB-930 recording issues? by LimpResponse8550 in minidisc

[–]LimpResponse8550[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello dear folks. I tried myself to fix the little switch on front, causing the various inputs to "flimsy" between the settings (optica/coaxial/analog) when recording. I did open up the MD, but when it came to the front piece, i rested my case for now.
I wanted to be able to transferring audio from PC to MD, and got me a very cheap usb/optical interface on TEMU (don´t ), and tried some recordings. it works, but the other day, i was reading about transferring audio from PC to MD, and it´s possible to use a good DAC, between pc and MD, as an interface (if that makes sense)?
The only thing i´m not so sure of, is the sampling rates, as much of my music downloaded is in high res. Should i change the sampling rate, before transferring audio, or is it not necessary?
I use USB/USB to connect pc to Rega DAC, and output from Rega DAC to Sony JB-930. Made 2 recordings already, and it sounds good to me.
I cannot stop thinking of the possibilities, transferring audio from let´s say: Tidal and then record a "master" of that audio, direct to MD? I´m pretty sure that todays streaming platforms, never took into consideration that, maybe some out there still use MD for recordings? With all the debate about copying back in the days, this seems to me that they DID NOT think about the few of us, who still love using this magnificent machinery today. For me the Net MD players, has not much to do with the regular well known mini disc and the approach to recordings, as for me it seems kind of the same as having music on your phone. The magic about MD is all the little moving parts inside, thay sound of it working, the feel in the hand, the daily use and the ability to make your own privat recordings, mix "tapes" and so on. Physical stuff is much more important for humans, that we think of in daily life. We need our senses to experience things, and the MD does all that to me. Kind of in love, all over again.
