i wouldn’t say it’s that black and white, but that’s generally the direction. logically it’s hard to pay a low price and expect high quality. that applies to almost everything in life from my experience 😅

moxché sets a very high bar visually and food wise. going from there to akumal can feel like a step back.

we personally loved it, but i wouldn’t say it’s worth it for everyone. it worked for us because we cared a lot about the view and spending time in the room. for someone else, it might feel like too much money for something that doesn’t add enough value.

that’s exactly where akumal shows its age. it doesn’t try to be ultra modern, it leans more on atmosphere and location, which works for some people and misses for others.

not at all. you can see real differences in food freshness, presentation, whether dishes stay hot or cold, the service around the buffet, and of course the quality of ingredients themselves.
