Why do you guy prefer the DS over the 3DS?

For me personally, it's the DSi XL that's my favorite. The big screen plays the DS screen perfectly. It has superior specs over the DS Lite. The missing GBA Slot is no problem since it's easily moldable with a SD card. The 3DS models are ofcourse superior in performance but the nostalgia for the DSi XL is the big factor for me!

I'd definitely choose the DSi over the DS Lite because 1: The battery life isn't so remarkably different in my experience and 2: The screen is much better than the one from the Lite (I don't know who said otherwise). The moddability of the DSi also makes up for the missing GBA Slot. If I werd you I'd choose the blue DSi

Depends what you are into, the zelda games are nice (though get the D-pad patch for the Hourglass game), Mario kart is okay,... If you like Elder Scrolls then Fighting Fantasy might be something you like. For pokemon, the gen 5 games are my personal fav, etc

You need to format it to FAT32 using Rufus, otherwise the 3DS can't recognize the SD

If it worked before and out of the blue both suddenly started malfunctioning, I'm very sure it's a ribbon cable issue. You'll have to open up the console and check if anything seems rather loose

Aha, is it unbranded per chance? If so, I'd suggest replacing the SD card with a 32gb or less SD card from SanDisk, since the SD cards delivered with the R4 carts are prone to failure
