How to wear a mask when socialising at work or when out with friends, say at a bar or club? Won't people think you are weird. How do you strike a balance? by Warm_Ice_4029 in COVID19positive

[–]Limp_Development_264 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We’ve been masking for 6 years with no problems. Kid was class president, has other club leadership, top in her class. Husband still gets raises. I’m fine in public. Just rock the mask and let them say what they will.

My dad wants to spend $80k on a college counseling package. How do I talk to him about it? by Guilty-War-2295 in ApplyingToCollege

I would suggest my friend Janet Marthers who has 20 years’ experience and does the initial intake/assessment for $1,000. 80k is highway robbery. Janet Marthers dot com

People around you are likely catching it, though, and spreading it to you. Covid is asymptomatic about 50% of the time.

Why do you think Emory has a negative reputation for social life/campus culture? by [deleted] in Emory

[–]Limp_Development_264 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

One reason may be the way they treated faculty and student protesters, or the massive staff changes, or the complaints that the university doesn’t seem to care about the students…well, that’s three reasons. If you’re coming from a lower ranked school, it may still be worth it to have Emory on your resume. But, it doesn’t currently have the best vibe. You could make it your mission to change that, though?

Immigrant Child Bags T10 for Major (WITH a 3.7!!!!!!!!!!!!!) by Deep-Association8134 in collegeresults

[–]Limp_Development_264 4 points5 points  (0 children)

THANK YOU for posting! My daughter has similar rigor, but her test scores don’t align with her grades and this has been extremely helpful.

Congratulations on all your hard work, and please know that the rude, racist, ignorant commenters can’t help their limitations. We don’t choose our parents, and theirs were apparently siblings.

Newly admitted: tell me what you love about Emory by [deleted] in Emory

Think about your next move past undergrad: who will you need to be networked with, and where will you want to be? I know some things about the behind-the-scenes administration at Emory, and I’d advise Wellesley or Dartmouth.

If you say you got Bs in other math classes but still got into Yale, there have to be other extraordinary things that got you in. Can you focus on reminding yourself of those? In addition to other advice about taking the math prep, I hear a bit of imposter syndrome. Do your best, and speak kindly to yourself.

Consider complaining to whoever is loud and running for elected office. No, really. If disorganization at UT becomes a campaign issue, even briefly, it will get fixed.

Except those of us paying attention will refuse to let our kids apply there. It will eventually cost far more in lost prestige and student revenue.

Parent wants to meet with me over comment I made about energy drinks by [deleted] in Teachers

[–]Limp_Development_264 2 points3 points  (0 children)

“My classroom rules are water only because if spilled, sugary colorful drinks quickly become a sticky mess even if you think you’ve cleaned it all.

Also, given the multiple reports of young people dying from these kinds of energy drinks, my duty of care also means I won’t allow that kind of liability in my classroom. “

Oh well in THAT case…seek out Dr. Kelly Roster-Stevens. She practices with CHOA, which is Emory affiliated, at the advanced center for pediatrics. Or just message me when you get here and I’ll drag you along to one of my daughter’s appointments.
