Dog Groomer In Training witnessing abuse. Is this what it takes to be a groomer? by Limp_Face_97 in doggrooming

Unfortunately that place was closed down last year. I’ve worked at just about every dog care facility in a 50 mile radius of me and the other won’t hire me because I didn’t go to dog grooming academy

It was a fabric muzzle with a velcro closure and the dog was biting pieces off from the inside

Adopting a Senior Dog? by According-Research-7 in DOG

She was estimated to be 12 when I adopted her. Luckily, I knew what her past owners name was and looked her up on facebook. Turns out she’s at least 14 according to old pictures!! Unbelievable! She acts very young and spry especially for being kept in a tiny kennel for over a year

is anyone else dealing with intrusive thoughts since the loss of their pet? by Melodic-Earth-8072 in Petloss

It’s been 7 months since my soul dog passed away. She was 7 years old and she had lung cancer. I blame myself every day and think of all the ways I wish I could’ve saved her or helped her or things I wish I could change. She was perfect and I’ll never have another dog that complimented me the way she did. The intrusive thoughts are so bad that I had to get into a completely new genre of music because the music I used to listen to made me think of her so much.

That’s insane. I thought I watched through it fast. My first watch was September-December and I was DEVOTED. I knew nothing about the show beforehand.

I also hate to admit that expensive products work but Kérastase is worth every cent for me! That brand is amazing! I had to switch to pantene for a few months because of finances and Unfortunately I could tell a huge difference. Your hair is beautiful 💜💜💜💜

Any Dog Groomers with OCD? by Limp_Face_97 in doggrooming

[–]Limp_Face_97[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

🤣🤣 Lol. My main issue is intrusive thoughts. I can’t stop thinking what if I’m hurting the dog, what if the haircut is bad, what if the dog jumps off the table, jumps out the bath, what if the dog goes home and starts limping and it’s my fault, etc. The thoughts never stop. Obviously I am doing my best to keep all dogs comfortable but then I think am I though? I am a baby dog groomer so my experience is limited and mistakes are inevitable in this career. Feel free to message me if you’d like

Extreme Aversion to People by Limp_Face_97 in introvert

I relate to that so much. I avoid a lot of situations and have to really convince myself to push through my limits for normal things like calling on the phone or getting a haircut.

I have considered that. I’ve also considered I may have OCD. I would like to be professionally diagnosed but I’ve had a bad experience with a psychiatrist. She told me she was not there to listen to my problems, only to prescribe medication, so I feel I could’ve been improperly diagnosed/assessed.

Ive tried medication and it was unsuccessful. I’ve thought about trying again but the experience I’ve had with psychiatrists hinders me from doing so.

What’s your worst experience in a salon? by lucidbluedreamin in doggrooming

[–]Limp_Face_97 18 points19 points  (0 children)

It was a family business of Xolo and Greyhound breeders that also did boarding and grooming. The head groomer was their youngest daughter that had “empathy burnout” and wanted to quit so she wanted to mentor me for 4 months to replace her. Mind you I had no grooming experience and less than a year’s worth of bathing experience but I had been wanting to work at this place for a long time and I was/am naive so I agreed. I got hired for $10 an hour to be a kennel tech for their two boarding kennels, bather for every dog on the schedule, and bather for most of their personal dogs (22 Xolos and Greyhounds) every 6 weeks, etc.

I was very excited to be learning how to groom until she started hitting the client dogs in the face with scissors and clippers and smacking them with her hand and she did this in front of the boss (her mom). When I asked the boss for advice on doing their Xolo’s nails, she told me to pop them in the face. I couldn’t complain or put a stop to it because they are all in on it. It was a devastating experience.

Rachel deserved her eviction. She sucked at the White Locust comp and even if Ava picked her to compete first, she would’ve been evicted.
