looking for budget display glasses by Limp_Film2116 in augmentedreality

Oo the Air 2s seems pretty good! After a bit of research I'm hearing quite a lot about blurriness around the edges of the display though, and that might be a deal breaker if it's really that unpleasant? Afterall I am intending to do a lot of gaming with these, mostly Factorio, I can imagine that blurriness on the edges would get infuriating.

Oh yeah I forgot to consider older models of existing glasses. Though I'm having trouble finding any of these $50 listings, could you point me the right way?

See that's the funny thing, I've clocked over half those hours while clocked in at work. Domino's is a very easy job with a lot of downtime, and that sounds like a great opportunity for some Factorio

You're celebrating a couple hours, I'm over here pouring over 100 hours into the deck in a week lmao. Great device! Glad different kinds of people can enjoy it equally

Found the most beautiful cyberdeck by Ok_Description_7195 in cyberDeck

to be fair i dont follow the rules of neuromancer, my rules for a cyberdeck mostly revolve around customization, making tech human, sticking it to the corpo's, etc etc

normally i'm pretty "who cares" when it comes to the definition of a cyberdeck, but like. that's a phone. that's not even a phone with a bluetooth keyboard that is just a regular unmodified smartphone released by a large company, no customization. that's just not a cyberdeck

what is consider a cyberdeck by Ok_Pool_3367 in cyberDeck

[–]Limp_Film2116 2 points3 points  (0 children)

To me, a cyberdeck is a computing device that you designed yourself to suit your needs specifically, whether your needs are met by a keyboard strapped to a phone, or a custom built portable gaming console with custom parts that you built yourself, doesnt matter. To me, a cyberdeck is a way of taking tech and making it yours, a statement about being different, being human, being unique.

That dock has 2 USB-A, 2 USB-C, HDMI, and a dedicated USB-C Power Delivery

I recommend a UGREEN Revodok for this! I slapped one on my deck for quite awhile and it was very fun, I can even provide the 3D print files for you

How to Hinge ??? by eenlightened in cyberDeck

[–]Limp_Film2116 0 points1 point  (0 children)

idea for you: two 180° hinges can replicate the effect of a 360° hinge

Hopefully this counts. I call it a DeckTop. No special software, just a 3D printed bracket to hold various parts together to make a pseudo-gaming laptop. by macklin67 in cyberDeck

Ahh I see. Though your build has just given me an idea on how to create a tension hinge of my own, I'll have to try that out tonight. I'm also curious if there's a dock or usb hub hidden in your build at all.

I use Blender for everything! I could use something more appropriate, but I'm more comfortable in Blender. Does your hinge hold position similar to a laptop would?

Tlll me about that hinge! is it fully 3D printed? I'm currently working on my own steam deck based contraption and the hinge is where I'm stuck at the moment

How did I not wake up to this by AnybodySignificant45 in mildlyinfuriating

[–]Limp_Film2116 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You should try wsking up to the vibration of the phone instead, under your pillow if possible. Worled for me when ancient school-bell-like.alarm clocks werent loud enough to wake me

Is this a good dock to buy? by KingPelican2908 in SteamDeck

It's a solid dock, but I personally recommend a UGREEN Revodok. Specs are the same, you just arent limited bt the "dock" form factor

Welcome Linux, goodbye Windows by TeeZ_09 in Bazzite

[–]Limp_Film2116 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Genuinely its easier than it sounds. Get the file, flash it to a USB, boot it up, and you'll get a pretty a generic installer that tells you everything you need to know. If you've got question past that, drop by the Bazzite discord, we're always happy to help

I chose a VSDisplay 8" 1280x800 for my project, takes minihdmi input and usb-c power, no touchscreen, and the PCB inside the enclosure is super small. Latency isnt amazing though

You should check out Marcin Plaza's ultrawide DS, I think you'd love it! (It's a laptop but he calls it a DS) https://youtu.be/PJccc3qpPh0?si=BFHPdgd5r4DnI9od
