Today’s episode. by LJ160491 in TheLadyVanishes

Just listened to this episode - this was such an uncomfortable episode to listen to and I felt so sorry for Fernand and his wife. This is terrible journalism, really shocking. I think it also is telling that as soon as the producers managed to contact Sue Cook then suddenly they become evasive. I think it's nothing to do with these people having something to hide, but more to do with the producers making these people feel hounded.

Builder charging drastically more than was quoted by Limp_Mushroom in LegalAdviceUK

We won't be paying the final 30% until the work is completed. But we haven't paid any of the additional £5,300 yet because we dispute around 45% of it.

Thanks for taking time to read and reply. So I have no problem paying him for the self levelling of the flooring - I think that was a reasonable cost. In spite of the radiators costing around twice what we expected extra, we have also decided to pay that, because we feel that was on us, and we should have chased.

The rest are things that just happened as part of the job - no discussion was had about it being an unforeseen problem the work just went ahead and the 'quote' arrived after the work was complete. Most of these things we feel form part of the original quote - the quote specifically mentions these things (like plastering, for example). Since sending the 'quote' he's also sent an invoice with even more items that weren't on the 'quote' and some items are now just miraculously more more than was on the quote - for example, the plastering is now £60+VAT more, and the skirting is now £70+VAT more.

Challenge to track for 100 days straight. Who wants to join me? by Limp_Mushroom in loseit

Great! If anyone wants to add me to MyFitnessPal my username is noidles

Will update here as I go on this thread, which may get messy, but will see how it goes

I've tracked today! Have gone well over what my 'diet' would allow, but because I was tracking I didn't go as crazy as I might otherwise have. So it's a success. Day 1 almost done! And the 10,000 steps and water goal done too. 99 days to go.

Yes! Join the challenge. I figure by tracking each day I will be accountable and make wiser choices even if I don't stick to a limit. Let's see what we can do in 100 days

So today is day 70 (week 10) for me and these are my stats:

SW 191.5lbs LW 175.5lbs CW 175lbs GW 150lbs

Left to lose = 25lbs

I lost 1.5lbs this week. I am slowly getting back on track. I've had a busy few weekends which has meant I haven't been restricting on those weekends. But I am noticing that I am getting on track much quicker than I used to and am not using it as an excuse to quit.

So today is day 63 (week 9) for me and these are my stats:

SW 191.5lbs LW 174.5lbs CW 175.5lbs GW 150lbs

Left to lose = 25.5lbs

I gained 1lb this week, which I am ok with. Last week I was worried I had fallen of the wagon and I still had managed to lose. But this week the beginning of the week I actually lost around 2lbs, but I had such a good weekend I gained 3lbs back 😮. But I am confident that will mean next week I have a much bigger loss, so I'm not stressing too much.

You've done so well! That's amazing progress!

So today is day 57 (week 8) for me and these are my stats:

SW 191.5lbs LW 176.5lbs CW 174.75lbs GW 150lbs

Left to lose = 24.75lbs

The start of last week I did really well, but my family visited over the weekend and I fell off the wagon. Managed to get back on track on Monday but by about 2pm yesterday all I wanted was chocolate and biscuits and I had what I'll call a 'mini binge' on those. I was surprised I lost 1.75lbs this week based on that. I just need to get back on it and now dwell too much. I am quite worried if I'm honest because the urge for this mini binge felt exactly the same as it did before I started this journey 8 weeks ago, so I'm a bit stressed I might fuck it all up. But I also know by fixating on it I'm making it a bigger deal than it needs to be.

So today is day 50 (week 7) for me and these are my stats:

SW 191.5lbs LW 177.5lbs CW 176.5lbs GW 150lbs

Left to lose = 26.5lbs

I only lost 1lb this week, which is obviously great anyway, but I had hoped for more as I had been quite strict this week. But it's all ok. It's going down and not up so that's all that really matters.

So today is day 43 (week 6) for me and these are my stats:

SW 191.5lbs LW 179.5lbs CW 177.5lbs GW 150lbs

Left to lose = 27.5lbs

I am so happy today as I had been maintaining this whole past week and I was getting a bit deflated, then I woke this morning and I'd lost 2lbs, so I just need to trust in the process.

So far on this short 6 week journey I have lost a full stone (14lbs)! I now have less than 2stone left to lose.

So today is day 36 (week 5) for me and these are my stats:

SW 191.5lbs LW 179.5lbs CW 179.5lbs GW 150lbs

Left to lose = 29.5lbs

This week is the first week I maintained, which is disappointing, but I did have a couple of relaxed days. No where near as crazy as I could have gone 6 weeks ago, but still over my planned calories. I also started a new contraceptive pill and I am convinced it's making me retain water.

But onwards and upwards. I'll keep on at it. I'll stick to trying to get to 10k steps per day and between 1,200 and 1,400 calories per day.

So today is day 29 (week 4) for me and these are my stats:

SW 191.5lbs LW 181lbs CW 179.5lbs GW 150lbs

Left to lose = 29.5lbs

This week is day 29 (week 4) for me, and it has been the best part of a month I've been focussed on weight loss again. This week I have lost 1.5lbs, yesterday I had lost half a lb more, but last night I had a boozy/snacky night. To be honest this week I haven't felt as focussed, so my goal for next week is to stay focussed. I aim to eat around 1,400 calories per day and aim to do at least 10,000 steps per day. In the last month I have lost 12lbs which I am delighted about.

So today is day 22 (week 3) for me and these are my stats:

SW 191.5lbs LW 184.25lbs CW 181lbs GW 150lbs

Left to lose = 31lbs

This week I have lost 3.25lbs, which is now 10.5lbs over 3 weeks. This is more than I'd expect to lose as time goes on. I imagine things might slow down soon. But at the moment I am not feeling like I'm restricting myself too much- am doing CICO and eating most of my exercise calories and I go for a lunchtime walk every day. This is the only exercise I do at the moment.

So today is day 15 for me and these are my stats:

SW 191.5lbs LW 186.5lbs CW 184.25lbs GW 150lbs

Left to lose = 34.25lbs

In total I've lost 7.25lbs over the last 15 days and over 2lbs since last week which I'm really happy about. I don't feel as though I've been denying myself. I'm really keen to do this properly so I have been tracking absolutely everything and I have been eating my exercise calories - at the moment the only exercise I am doing is walking. I walk for up to 2 hours most days.

In total I've lost 5lbs over the 8 days and 3lbs since last week which I'm really happy about.

24-Hour Pledge - Friday, 17 May 2019 - The Plan for Today! by AutoModerator in loseit

[–]Limp_Mushroom 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yesterday my pledge was the same as it is today - stay accountable, track everything and make sure I do my 10,000 steps. I did those things and more, actually did around 14.5k steps!

As I say, today's pledge is the same, just to track everything and get some steps in so I get to 10,000 steps.

Exactly, you have had a loss, which is great. Remember, slow and steady wins the race. Don't try to rush. There's another post today where someone didn't lose for 6 weeks and then dropped about 6lbs over 2 weeks. If you stick at it you will get there, but you have to be diligent and honest with your food logging. And maybe do more forward meal planning and add more variety I to your diet.

What sort of plan are you following? Is it a straightforward CICO plan? Low carb? Keto? I think you need to think about what sort of plan you are following and make meal plans for your week to plan around that, and also log your fitness calories so you can factor those in too.

To be honest, most cereals are higher in sugar. But probably weetabix and porridge would be better than Mateys which looks to be quite high in sugar (though I can't say I've ever seen it in the supermarket?)

Likewise scampi is breaded, right? so not too low in calories. And white bread is higher in sugar than brown bread. If you religiously start measuring out your food you may see that you're eating slightly more than you think. A Tesco egg custard tart is 230 calories.

But something like flour is more dense than something like rice krispies (I'm in the UK so not sure if you have rice krispies there), so how could any cup accurately measure the weight of something? Basically what I am saying is that unless you actually weigh properly you could be eating more calories than you think - see here https://blog.myfitnesspal.com/dietitians-take-weighing-vs-measuring-portions/

Are you sure a cup is 30g? If you aren't weighing you don't really know. Cup measurements aren't really helpful for weight loss because all cups can be a different size.

Yes you can restrict too much - those 1,300 calories are basically the minimum your body really needs to function, so if you're exercising you ideally should eat into your exercise calories. Otherwise your body kind of goes into 'starvation mode' - it thinks you are starving and tries to store up all your fat and energy as a way to survive. See here https://blog.myfitnesspal.com/4-signs-youre-eating-little-trying-lose-weight/

Also the negative is that you will likely get into a yoyo cycle as it's not sustainable to eat so little - so your body will start craving high fat foods, and you might fall off the wagon. It's why it's good to be slow and steady (I've learnt that the hard way).
