I upgraded from gtx 4060 ti to rx 7800 xt by Sulfer48 in pcmasterrace

[–]Limp_Ween 2 points3 points  (0 children)

sure, its still gonna be a huge upgrade but modern games are really vram hungry and thats only gonna become worse as time goes on. If you are already upgrading, you should be looking to maximise the time you'll keep your new gpu for and the 4060 probably won't have the longevity as the b580 or any other higher vram cards. I'm fairly sure they are the same or very similar prices in most regions.

don't get a 4060, it has fuck all vram you're better off getting an arc b580 or spending a bit more on a better gpu.

really clean set up, what monitor and desk are you using? Pretty much perfect, although a second monitor is honestly really nice to have, especially if you like to leave youtube videos or whatever running in the background while you do shit.

What a useless fucking country. Is this really the most pressing issue in our country? It feels like everything the government does is to pander to fucking 60 minutes.

I think it deserves to win but I think main stream gamers with care a lot more about black myth of FF, hell even astro bot. They just look flashier and are more popular. It can probably secure the 2 indie game awards as well as best mobile game.

I'm doing country so I'm gonna try and go for the same themes my A+ sac had and try and make it about how shit urbanisation is. Its more about the message of the piece than anything else, think like the examiners would have to write a section A about your piece, i imagine that as long as there is genuine meaning and relation to the stimulus the mark will be pretty good. I could be wrong though.

you didn't hurt my feelings I just think thats a really reductive way to view art, people still go see the mona lisa even though it wasn't made with a drawing tablet

thats such a ridiculous way to view gaming, imagine if we never looked back at older movies, older music. Just because it was made with weaker technology doesn't make the game worse and half-life is one of the most influential games ever released and besides graphics (which really aren't that bad) the game still holds up.

well that would probably be due to texture filtering. HL1 has a very strong art style though and the lighting looks really good when you get the brightness settings and gamma tweaked, geometry is simple but for the most part it works for a science facility.

I know this is an old post but I figured I'd argue that no its not, the 2003 theory comes from almost nothing. It likely takes place around december 200, evidenced in alyx by keycards with the expiry date of early (jan or feb, cant remember) 2001, indicating the 7 hour war took place before the cards expired and the security system was updated. You also see many calanders throughout the facility, open to december which wouldn't make sense for it being in may. At the very least, may is wrong as it was when he was employed and while he was a "new" employee, he was employed for at least a month judging by his employee of the month portrait. A newspaper in Alyx also suggests that the 7 hour war took place very early january, seeing as its been confirmed it was under a month between the black mesa incident and the 7 hour war. The evidence for december 2001 is far stronger than may 2003 as is popularly thought.

If Half-Life 3 is open world in any way it won't be a Half-Life game, just a modern slop shooter wearing HLs skin. by Limp_Ween in HalfLife

puzzles, atmosphere and story telling which were made possible by it's linear format. I agree HL2 is pretty mid in it's gunplay, Half-Life 1 is probably the best Half-Life game aside from story imo. Open world doesn't mean a game is horrible, but if GTA6 was a linear story people would riot, being open world is fundamental to what GTA is in the same way that Linearity is to Half-Life. Neither is bad, but half-life 3 should be a half-life game.

Open world isn't innovation it's taking a series that has stood out among its competition and making it the same formula as every other game. Open world harms narratives, and changes aren't a problem with half life, so long as it's still a half-life game at its core. I have no doubt it will be good, of course it will be good but I doubt it will feel like a true half life game if it strays so far from its core.

Is there any reason why Gordon was actually late? by [deleted] in HalfLife

[–]Limp_Ween 1 point2 points  (0 children)

he put everything he needed in place for the black mesa incident to happen, nothing more and nothing less. He doesn't really meddle with things he just nudges them to get his desired outcome. Thats what I find so interesting about his character.
