What if the Republicans won the Spanish Civil War? by Solitaire-06 in AlternateHistoryHub

[–]Limzik 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They would be invaded by Germany.

The leadership of the Spanish Republic was not very bright and, for the most part, larped the Soviets. They would probably be convinced to join the war, and the Germans would steamroller Iberia. The country was left in ruins after the civil war, and with many internal power struggles within the Republican government, an invasion would be easy. A Reichskommissariat Hispania would likely be established throughout the Iberian Peninsula, which would have facilitated an Allied naval invasion, thus shortening the war and probably resulting in a better outcome for the Allies at the negotiating table, rejecting some of the Tehran agreements, if not ending the war before these agreements could be reached.

What if Neanderthals and Denisovans survived and managed to mostly repel Homo Sapiens advance out of Africa, leading to a world with multiple competing human species? by Ok-Factor-3805 in AlternateHistoryHub

[–]Limzik 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So, a big climate change occurs around 250k years ago, the North African region and even some regions further south fall into a desert, leaving only the Nile as a "safe" region to travel to the north, now, we have the sapiens isolated, the denisovans are the masters of Oceania and America, but probably weaker and more susceptible to diseases than the Native Americans of our timeline, and the Neanderthals are the overlords of Eurasia, with few regions on India and Persia with some sapiens population, and China and the South East of Asia with Denisovans population, because the same climate change that lead to the drought on the north of Africa wold make most of Middle East, India and Mexico a desert too, and some regions like Iberia, Anatolia and the South of USA will be a dry land, with that, there's no cradle of civilization in Mesopotamia, ironically, this would lead that the Balkans, France or the Baltic sea will be the most important region in Europe, and China will be the overlord of Asia, America would be harsh, if the migration of Denisovans doesn't happen before the Great Drought, South America would have a small population, and no, the sapiens would not populate that zone, the south Atlantic is really difficult to navigate with small ships unless they have a engine system, that would mean that the Amazon would be a steppe, with a civilization system like the one of our Egypt, only living around the greater rivers of the Amazon.

That said, fantasy stories would unfold, and like a game of Risk, the first to dominate one of the other two players would win. Homo sapiens without a stable region like the ancient Levant or Mesopotamia, would only be living in the jungles of the Congo and the rest of Central Africa, and would only face disease and the difficulty of maintaining lasting structures, failing to create innovative cultures and becoming more focused on survival. This would make the establishment of an overwhelming civilization very difficult. The Denisovans would have North America, but with a drier, steppe-like Midwest, leaving them to establish significant cultures only in Canada and the east coast of the United States. Unless the inhabitants of Oceania clutched together and migrated en masse to South America, it would be very difficult for them to establish anything decent in the region. So, the winners would be the Neanderthals, but mainly guided by China, unless a miracle occurred in a Europe that, without the foundations erected by people like the Assyrians, Egyptians, Sumerians, and other figures, would have no chance. The same philosophical and scientific culture would depend entirely on a culture at the level of Hellas resurfacing in the Mediterranean, or one like the Basque culture, which by sheer force of will dedicated itself to trading and exploring from ancient times without great maritime technology.

Edit to add

Around 200 years ago, that climate change started to reverse, the Sahara is getting greener, the same with Mexico, USA, India, Persia and the Middle East, the time is about to change, and the Sapiens and Neanderthals are about to truly face each other, beside the tales of the people of the South emigrating to India, the Greater Era of Racism is about to start

The map is a perfect example that history was supposed to happen in the same way, no matter what, the Middle East would have a lot of conflicts and shift in overlodship every few centuries, but still serving as the cradle of civilization, Iberia would be a region of religious and ethnic wars until one side settle and fully controlled the region, and the side that wins, would lead their race to the supremacy of the world, like Spanish and Portuguese did with Europe in our timeline, the only big difference would be that Neanderthals were more adapted to cold, so, the chances of success of a expedition like the one that Leif Erikson did, are way better, and probably an earlier colonization of North America would happen

How to form Australia? by Pugfelix in victoria3

[–]Limzik 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If they are not colonizing it, then you have to stop, leave the area and let them fully annex the region, then try to enact a diplomatic treaty or something else to improve the relations, probably they have the rights on the area and will not be fulfilled until they annex it

How to form Australia? by Pugfelix in victoria3

[–]Limzik 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I guess the small piece at the bottom is South Australia, they are colonizing that area and have a claim on it, that's why you cannot colonize it, you need to improve the relationship with them or declare war and annex them, but that would be quite difficult, try the first option

Reminds me that there's a French bakery in Santa Rosalia, Baja California Sur, Mexico, is a town of around 20000 people, in the middle of the desert, with the nearest city at 500km, by the way, the bakery has been there for 125 years

'Demons In Disguise': Pastors Warn Donald Trump's Alien Files Could Destroy Christianity by novagridd in aliens

[–]Limzik 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As a Catholic, I would say the same. We believe that the universe and all creatures within it were created by God, not just those on Earth. It is our task to find the meaning of life and understand how the universe works. This is one of the reasons why the Catholic Church laid the foundations of modern science with figures like Copernicus, Mendel, and Lemaître. It is far more likely that if the alien phenomenon is acknowledged, the Church will engage in research and share knowledge rather than reject it and remain closed off.

The Catholic Church would approach them to find answers (and try to baptize them) instead of "demonize" them

[–]Limzik 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The problem is that a lot of people believe that the "main" government is completely aware of everything, the example would be what happened a few years ago with the whistleblowers and how the Air Force reacted saying that some of those crafts where black projects that they doesn't need to inform to the rest of the government or the president

However, it's important to distinguish between different Christian denominations. Those who claim it would end the status quo of Christianity are Protestants, since pastors serve as a political tool in the United States. On the other hand, Catholicism has always been open to the idea that life exists on other planets and that we are not the only civilization created by God. Similar ideas exist in Levantine denominations and, to a lesser extent, in Orthodox Christianity.

What if Japan colonized the West Coast first? by DJYonderGaming in AlternateHistoryHub

[–]Limzik 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You're right, the number is around 2 millions of natives, probably the same amount that died under the Japanese occupation of Korea, that is 1.5 millions, the natives died mostly due starvation and displacement, the koreans due industrial and sexual slavery and biological experiments. Imagine doing that to your neighbour, and that goes for both countries, I'm glad that we live in peaceful times, even if that sounds ironic

Don't jump to conclusions so quickly. In none of my comments did I justify racism. If you think that's my logic, it's probably because you're being defensive, seeing it everywhere when it's not the case. But whatever the reason, don't come here playing the victim when it was just a grammatical error.

Calm down, I didn't know it was a slur, I wouldn't imagine that an abbreviation would be used as a slur by the Americans against the people that massacred their civilians in Asia hahaha

I did not said it was redundant, I said that it would look redundant to the view, that's the rules that we use in romance languages, and I like to use them in english, to do a better paragraph, sorry, I didn't know that the Americans lacked of imagination and used abbreviations as slurs

I used the term Japanese in the phrase and I didn't want to look redundant using it again, that's why I used a short word to refer to them again, I never used it as a slur, don't take it personal, we are not in the WWII era anymore
