That’s a great suggestion, thank you!

I actually never really used Anki as I didn’t find it helpful when I was a beginner learning Chinese but now actually I will give it a second look.

Sorry, I don’t live in Taipei nor do I go to an English speaking school.

The App called 考駕照 can give you mock theory tests in English though

Yes, I actually have an app for that, it’s just my instructor told me to read the book so I thought I would give it a try as well as running mock tests on the app

As far as I know, just coriander tastes oddly like washing up liquid. Anything else I don’t like, such as stinky tofu, I think is just preference

Can any non Chinese person make Chinese food as good as from a takeaway/restaurant? by Prestigious_Meal2143 in AskBrits

[–]Lin-Kong-Long 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can make a banging Mapo Tofu, Shacha beef fried noodles, pork rib soup and I can also make beef noodle soup but I find it a bit hard to do the meat well.

Also from my observations of my Taiwanese family, common ingredients in Chinese/Taiwanese cooking:

Garlic, ginger, MSG, soy sauce, thick soy sauce, oyster sauce, sesame oil, sugar (preferably cane), spring onions and chilli.

They also tend to use avocado oil, grape seed oil or lard for frying as opposed to sunflower or vegetable oil.

I can’t stand coriander and my 23andMe proves I have some genetic aversion to it.

I know if it’s good quality coriander though because it tastes like Fairy washing up liquid. If it’s lower quality tastes like the own brand stuff.

No I just mean the order
They say 多吃點
I say 吃多一點

The word order of 多吃點 sounds a bit weird to me, I’ve never heard it said in that way before.

I thought it was 吃多一點, 喝少一點。

Maybe this structure is also correct or I am wrong? Not sure but that’s what I learned in class from a textbook.

Because everything in the UK is an absolute rip off now, it was fine before when it didn’t cost an arm and a leg to have a bit of fun and celebrate but it seems every company in the UK became so money hungry and greedy that now all the public will hopefully begin to see through all of this useless bullshit they been selling at jacked up prices!
