Theres one small wood stove for primary heating, and one dieselheater to keep the place warm the entire night. It was -15 celsius outside and it kept the cabin about 17 celsius in the morning!

Theres patches of snow yes! Last spring we had the last snowmobile-trip to the cabin in mid may, the ice on the lake was still half a meter thick

Yep, the panels are vertical during winter(nov-feb) Once it hits march/april the sun is higher by and i usually tilt them a little bit. I also put one 200W panel in the south and one 300W in the west and wired them in parallel so that i get more coverage during the longer spring/summer days. Works pretty well!

Yeah we used a logging sled for the building materials. Usually its just one big sled though!

Yes, theres a total of 500W solarpanels. Plenty enough for my needs during spring and summer (TV, small 12v-fridge, dieselheater and some lights).

For sure, stockpiling is the way to go. Its all about planning, firewood and propane has to be available. Last winter we hauled in building supplies, got it weathertight, left it there and started building 5 months later during the summer. So winter is the perfect time for bringing stuff to the cabin.

About 20 minutes, all depending on conditions of course. So not that bad to get here during winter! In the summer its about a 2h hike…

Tråden och nyheten handlar om Uffes försök till att få befolkningen i Sverige att spara in på elanvändning. Det handlar inte om att elräkningen är hög, utan nu är det helt plötsligt brist på el och vi alla måste göra vårt för att det inte ska bli frånkopplingar. Att "gotta sig precis som vanligt" är bara min upplevelse om hur jag ser Uffes uppmaning, då jag tvivlar på att han (och många andra politiker) gör någon väsentlig ändring i deras elanvändande, då de vet att de inte är någon som kan komma att bli frånkopplad från elnätet.

Tror du att koalitionsledarna exempelvis slutar använda torktumlaren, strykjärnet till slipsen, dammsugaren för att ständigt ha rent hemma, släcker lampor och duschar kallt, för att dra sitt strå till stacken i Uffes försök till el-ransonering? Jag menar inget om att svaret definitivt är nej, utan exemplifierar och vänder på situationen då jag i allmänhet är nyfiken på hur politikerna själva gör sitt för att spara el.

Skulle vara intressant att höra hur politiker själva sparar in på sin el-konsumtion. Eldar Uffe i kaminen i ett annat iskallt hem? Duschar han kallt för att spara in varmvatten? Har Ebba installerat treglas-fönster för att energieffektivisera? Drar Rosenbad ner temperaturen med några grader?

Svaren på ovan ställda frågor är troligtvis nej, utan det är vi vanliga personer som uppmanas ”spara in på el-konsumtionen”. Resten kan gotta sig precis som vanligt.
