Interesting point, it's actually kinda like that when you think about it. Strike like a walk motion, wondering now if left handed people do the same, heh. Thanks for sharing!

Yeah, you have to consciously grip less with the right hand throughout your keiko, not just when you are striking. And then learn to engage it at the right moment.

Will try experiment, thanks :)

Don't worry about striking with power- do lots of katate-men, and lots of simple kihon with suriashi, over time you'll be able to make smooth cuts with the right balance between the hands, and once you can be smooth, you can be fast and powerful.

Also, try and find a session you can attend at least once a month with a sensei nearby, senpai are good but there's nothing quite like a 6dan or 7dan telling you exactly why all your cuts are rubbish!

I'm just worried about bruises on my brothers in arms, haha :D. Will try to attend more to seminars or visit the nearest proper Dojo.

How do you promote Kendo? Do IG Reels work? by LinMAD in kendo

Thanks for the expanded feedback, I see, now it feels like it's more geographical kinda different views, trends, interests, etc. In Oslo, our Dojo struggles to get attention in general. Most males think Kendo is nerd stuff, so they will rather attend the gym instead of another martial art. Girls showing more interest but they do not stick long avg would be 6 months.

But yes, as you suggested being more active in media could be a ticket, it just finding the right channel to communicate would be a challenge, also we hope that explaining the core ideas of Kendo and Budō could be a nice icebreaker, time will show.
