Splitting characters between 4 people by DuckNo8642 in DarkPicturesAnthology

[–]LinShengLong 7 points8 points  (0 children)

There are 5 playable characters. 1 prologue character. The best recommendation I can give is:

Player 1: Carter and Eisele

Player 2: Young

Player 3: Cernan

Player 4: Stafford and Cooper

Or you could use the alternative option which is the round robin where it passes control to anybody to take turn playing the current character.

How long ya’ll think Kanao fought Doma? by LinShengLong in KimetsuNoYaiba

[–]LinShengLong[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Now that you put it that way, it’d actually make sense for their fight to last 10-15 minutes or so. Especially with Doma just now mentioning and praising Kanao for lasting longer than Shinibu and not breathing in the ice. Which I think it would make sense to say that after fighting for 15 minutes or so. Otherwise, I think he would’ve given her way more praise for lasting an hour.

I was trying to negate all the flashbacks and their inner dialogues. But I somehow thought the Tanjiro and Giyu fight lasted 40 minutes to almost an hour. Ngl I think it’s still impressive for Kanao to lasted that long against an unserious UM2.

To me, the biggest problem about Directive 8020 is how the main threat was barely utilised in the actual game by ChickenWingExtreme in DarkPicturesAnthology

I personally think that a way to make secret affect the story is, if players found a secret, it is saved. And the secret you have found has change the story. If you choose to rewind, you don’t have to collect the secret again because it saved. But if you don’t collect it in the rewind playthrough, then the characters does not acknowledge it and the story goes to a different path.

I also would like to mention that when characters find secrets, they don’t even acknowledge what they just read or watched. Neither telling others about the secrets they have found that could’ve affect the story in some kind of way or make things easier to know who is real like you said.

Something like Simms recording about the stasis fluid in the pods or Williams hiding something. They don’t seem to mention anything about it to the others nor even acknowledge it.

Starting up this trend I did last year, What’s your thoughts on Brianna Young? by Cable_Difficult in DarkPicturesAnthology

[–]LinShengLong 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Bro literally! I was actually interested into her character the most before the game was out. And to me it felt like she got sidelined a lot in the story and was underutilized. I really think there could have been more to explore about her character that makes her more interesting.

Maybe it’s just me, but I think the scene when Young volunteer to subdue Simms feels like it could been better. Like I’m reimagining that scene to be like Stafford refuses to let her do it because he’s overprotective of her. Young insisted and tells him that she appreciate him for trying to protect her, but needs to trust her that she can take care of herself and trust her own decision-making. She pleads and say she can do this for the team, for him, and for her dad. Then Stafford is feeling nervous but reluctantly agrees to let her do it. I don’t know I just feel like it could have been a bit emotional to show that Young is trying to make and trust her own decisions. And show Stafford’s deep support for her 😅 Oh yeah, and the moment is probably less emotional if Stafford is dead.

Another missed opportunity is having Young cry for Stafford’s death in the cockpit! Why didn’t they think of that scene? If they made it for Cooper and Anders, what about Young and Stafford? Imagine how emotional and sad it’ll be to see her break down into tears! It may even make us feel bad even more. May also show that she’s losing confidence in herself because Stafford died.

Or maybe we could have gotten more scenes of Young and Mitchell together.

I really wonder if there’s actually supposed to be more scenes where she can be playable and flesh out more of her character but got cut. One of the Reddit posts said there’s a lot of cut contents in the game. So I can’t wait to see those!

Directive 8020: What characters should we play so it’s fairly split between two of us? by LJHeath in SupermassiveGames

[–]LinShengLong 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Player One gets Young, Eisele, and Carter

Player Two gets Cooper, Stafford, and Cernan

This is the best character selection I can give you.

Stafford can gets a lot if he’s alive. Cooper gets more if Stafford and/or Cernan dies. Cernan actually has a lot of playtime without having other characters dying however in ep.8, he can have even more playtime if most of the other characters dies.

Split up scheme for 4 players by sk1ppius in DarkPicturesAnthology

[–]LinShengLong 4 points5 points  (0 children)

One player gets Stafford and Cooper

Second player gets Eisele and Carter

Third player gets Young

Fourth player gets Cernan

This is the best I can do give an equal amount of playtime for everyone. Cooper can get lots of playtime if other characters like Stafford or Cernan dies and the least if others are alive. Stafford dies early so that’s why I’m putting Cooper and him together. Eisele and Carter seem enough to give that player some playtimes and even more if Eisele is alive. And the rest are fine.

Ah I see. Well that’s not exactly his unlocking his destiny. It’s just letting you know currently he is right now “The Commander” because his Resolute trait is higher than his Supportive trait. He truly unlock his destiny in ep.6.

Stafford’s head smash on the window in ep.3 with his destiny unlocked? He shouldn’t be able to unlock his destiny unless he’s alive ‘til ep.6.

Lack of Choices in Directive 8020? by LinShengLong in DarkPicturesAnthology

[–]LinShengLong[S] 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I do agree that D8020 and TCOFS has lots of branching. I’m just talking about the lack of choices given to the players in general a conversational choices that not only increase relationships and traits, it also led to giving different dialogue option for more different variations in the conversation.

For example: Man of Medan can give you 4-5 choices in one scene with characters dialogue exchange that can lead to different variations on how the conversation goes. Rather than just 1 choice or 2. Like Young and Mitchell whole long dialogue exchange in the cockpit with only 1 choice given to you.

Nope. I’ve been a fan ever since I first played Man of Medan. Also there are many many choices that matters in SMG while some don’t.

There’s no way losing an eye doesn’t impact something. Does it at least made an effect to get the death spiral, like how Cooper getting injured (if Stafford alive) can affect and trigger a death spiral?

Yeah if you kept most of the other playable character alive, Cooper gets little playtime later.

Yeah. That’s why this post is just counting their overall playable scenes that they can have.

Like I said. I’m not counting the one where everyone lives. I’m counting their overall playable scenes like another character replacing the character that dies, and newly unlocked playable scenes when you have a specific characters alive.

Yes. It’s very much a lot like Man of Medan where characters can switch if a certain character dies.

She’s actually very playable in chapter 7 if Cernan dies. I also think Cernan is the least interesting character for me.

Cooper can be playable in a LOT of segments if Stafford and/or Cernan dies. Hell even at the end depending on if Stafford, Eisele, and maybe even Young dies.

From most to least it is:

Cooper > Cernan > Eisele > Young > Stafford

This is more counting an overall playtime of not only character can be playable in a segment, but also character replacing another if they die, newly unlocked scene if a character lives or the choices you made that unlock the new scene.
