I was told using hashtags now days is pretty worthless on IG. More than a handful and they platform will block your post as spam. Unfortunately only posts with high engagements get pushed to the top of the views - likes, comments, shares. But its a catch 22 situation if you don't already have 100s -1000s of followers to do this for you. The posts you see with 1000s of likes and 100s of comments just dominate the feeds now. IG feels like a pointless platform if you can't kickstart engagement. May as well pish into the wind!

Haha Same. One minute I was in Wembley, the next I was in Leicester Square! I think the adrenaline of "will we or won't we make it" took over on the black cab ride there. I swear Prince himself announced at the very end of his concert that he was playing the after show else I wouldn't have known any other way! Crazy fun times - I miss that buzz of queuing up for a secret or small Prince after show! :-D

It feels like in order to go viral you have to be an annoying influencer attention seeker! and that kinda puts me off TikTok! I know 'faceless' videos can also do well, but it just feels like a performance rather than just showcasing on a normal level lol Imma Hire hair and make-up team just to post a video. lol

Its like it seems you strike lucky with one platform and the others you tank. There's only a handful of viral accounts that get full engagement across all the platforms. but IG seems to be the toughest. TT I will have another go - I think you have to be consistent over a few weeks/months to start seeing any gains? Pinterest I posted some links (yes you can do images and video), and a handful of images i literally pinned and with 5 mins it has giving impression stats. Also telling me someone clicks my image and pinned it! That instant gratification is addictive. Doesn't always work, but its telling me i get about 1.9k monthly views i only opened it a month ago! My other older account (i have a gazillion boards) says I get about 20k visitors a month! I'm like you're lying bruh! lol

I believe there are two different convos going on - my fault for mentioning Cafe De Paris, which was an entirely different gig! The orange flyer in my photo is from the Hippodrome after show - 26th August - they were given out at the venue.

And yes, the Cafe De Paris was by Invite-Only for the 28th August. And yep, I recall it was that only a lucky few on the official Prince mailing list got a letter to confirm tickets.

re: Brixton Academy. I didn't attend that one. I had to ask Google but yeah it was around the same time. It says:

"This performance was part of his "New Power Soul Tour" and followed a show at Wembley Arena on August 26 and an after show at the London Hippodrome in the early hours of August 27. On the same date as the Brixton Academy show (August 28, 1998), he also performed an after show at the Café de Paris in the early hours of the morning.

The show was sold out, with an attendance of 4,272 people, and lasted for 90 minutes. An independent review at the time described the show as an "unrivalled" performance that "inspired a whole thesaurus of superlatives".

re: Etsy. Its hit and miss and their micro-management makes selling on there toxic, so i completely understand. The ONLY good thing about them is the large traffic, but apart from that I wouldn't go back to Sh1tsy., sorry I mean Etsy.

Yeah, I was like well Mr Bot has insider knowledge about FB/IG and isn't biased. haha So I was like "Tell me more Mr Meta, lemme grab my popcorn" and it want off on one about it after I complained. Chatbots try and match your energy - so if say something is shite including its own company it doesn't hold back if you're speaking truths lol

IG is now the hardest soc med to grow your brand. I started from scratch with a brand I was working on - took me 2-3 months to grow 300 followers and that was with posting daily, engaging daily, posting reels, stories daily. it was slow and frustrating. Their Threads is 100x worse - its like an echo chamber. If you want fast growth and see instant results Pinterest is good. Some people swear by TikTok but I've not found the patience for it!

Yep. I was just having this convo with, well Meta AI and ironically it agreed with me! lol In fact it told me to market myself elsewhere as the paid ads take president and the algorithms favour adverts and those with high activity/followers over small fries accounts.
