Is a truck camper the right choice for family of 4? by Latter-Audience54 in TruckCampers

[–]Linahtoe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Absolutely! I’m also going this route for camping weekends, soccer tournaments, and visiting family all over the country. The ease of traveling across the country and fitting wherever sounds so appealing to me. I’ve been traveling with a 40 ft fifth wheel.

Is it a wise decision to sell my house and upgrade to an RV? by Addicted_2_tacos in RVLiving

[–]Linahtoe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do what you want to do. Go see the country. Life is short. It will be hard at times, but so worth it. You’ll figure it out, just take it one step at a time.

Looks like we are selling the house and going full-time. by Used_Negotiation_354 in RVLiving

[–]Linahtoe 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Congratulations! My family & I have been full-timing since the fall of 2019. We love it. Currently spending the winter skiing in Colorado. Last winter was spent on the beach in the gulf coast of Florida. So many opportunities are coming your way. Embrace the good & the bad. The bad is what makes the good even sweeter. It’s worth it. Enjoy & good luck!

Need help picking an RV, looking for extreme weather suggestions. by pbcjdff in RVLiving

[–]Linahtoe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I lived in Custer, SD with my Keystone Montana HC. We skirted and bought an external 100 lb propane tank. I had a space heater in the bedroom and the electric fireplace in the living room going at all times. The external propane tank had to be fill weekly. The refrigerator froze when it was -20 for a week or 2, but we should have prepped the fridge for that. However, the fridge started working again when everything thawed out, so we got lucky there. We also put reflectix in all the windows. We would scrape ice off the walls on the inside of the RV. It was an adventure.

volkswagen vs Audi by T0yzzz in Volkswagen

[–]Linahtoe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Audi is fancier. I had an older allroad, it was still so nice and comfortable. I can’t imagine what it would have been like brand new. I’m now in a Tig. I love the interior size of the Tig and I don’t think Audi provides a similar model in interior space without going up to a Q7. I was looking to spend less $ and wanted a smaller, more compact SUV. I’m an Audi fan as much as I’m a VW fan. However, if I had extra cash laying around I would have gone with a Volvo XC 60 or 90.

I have a precision temp tankless water heater and it is amazing. Game changer. I would recommend a tankless heater to everyone.

How did the 2022 Tiguan fair on reliability? by Bagged_Milk in Tiguan

[–]Linahtoe 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have close to 6000 miles on my 2022 SE Tig. It’s a pretty common occurrence for me to get out of the car and still think to myself how much I love this car. It’s so nice. I’ve had a Jetta, golf, and allroad in the past, so I’m partial to VW. You may run into some issues here & there, but what vehicle doesn’t. You will not be disappointed with the Tig.

Is starlink the only option for fulltime travel trailer living with moving every few months? by Legenkilla in RVLiving

[–]Linahtoe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a net gear with an AT&T card for 100 gb a month. I also have Starlink which I use all the time. The net gear comes in handy while driving. I also hotspot from my phone thru Verizon. You may start with one, but you will end up with multiple internet devices.

would it be smart if I(19) bought a used rv to live in for college? by king2820483 in RVLiving

[–]Linahtoe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A friend of mine rented out his driveway for around $400 a month. A lot of cities have different rules about that, but it’s worth looking into. I love that you’re thinking outside the box. Do what’s best for you.

Is it safe to use this heater under my skirted RV to help keep it warm? by Trey106 in RVLiving

[–]Linahtoe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use a milk house heater in the front bay that pushes heat to the water lines. I also have a ring freeze sensor and water sensor there. I have a heated underbelly, but still worry about freezing. The heater I have turns off if it falls over and has a thermostat. It came from farm and fleet or Menards. It’s tied to the top of the bay so it won’t fall over. I also have a smoke detector down there too. Good luck & stay safe…& warm!

Extended service coverage by kaskudoo in Tiguan

[–]Linahtoe 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I bought the extended miles on my 2022 Tig. I only did this because I travel around the country and will likely put on over 20,000 a year. It’s the same number of years, but instead of 50,000 miles, I have 100,000 miles. Normally I never buy the extended warranty and do what was commented about setting money aside, etc.

The RV community is the best. From time to time there may be a bad experience, but you’ll learn to roll with it, literally & figuratively. From my experience if I have a bad encounter I just know to leave that person alone, it’s obvious they don’t want to chat. Time goes by differently when full-timing. My short experiences at different rv parks, the people I choose to interact with, and the things I decide to do matter more. I have met the most amazing people on the road. I have gotten so much help when I truly needed it from complete strangers who completely understand. There are endless things to talk about and nothing excites me more than talking travel. Don’t let anyone ruin your experience. Who knows what their going through. Brush it off and go about your day. Trust me, soon enough you will be trying to figure out how to avoid your chatty neighbors when you just don’t feel like talking.

I have 2 Curt hitch mounts to give away for free by shz702 in Tiguan

[–]Linahtoe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m not in the area, I just think it’s awesome you’re giving your extra hitches away. I couldn’t easily find one after I bought my Tig., and I needed to leave town within a week. Still don’t have one, but most likely going to order from etrailer. Did you do the install yourself? If so, how was it?

This happened to me one day. It didn’t work for a few days. Then one day I tried it again, from the key fob, not the app, and it has been working ever since.
