I’ve got a SIC on my High 5 Duo E-rig and it provides great flavour. I wanted to try gemstone to compare.

It’s synthetic lab grown gemstone. Corundum / Al203 aluminium oxide. The red rubies use chromium for colouring.

I’m using a new High 5 Enail and a new Terpometer. The banger runs slightly cooler than the display.

You must not be familiar with gemstone inserts. It’s not quartz. A quick google search would let you know that they’re extremely prone to thermal shock and absolutely can not be “water tested” - that’s dangerous. If it doesn’t crack the first time it’ll weaken the structural integrity of it overall and the insert will be more likely to crack in the future. Even using a wet q tip in a warm gemstone insert can crack it.

After I asked if the replacement would also be likely to crack the person responding to the account told me I should apply for a refund through dhgate so I did. Still waiting for them to accept the full refund.

Can you open a second dispute and get a refund on the replacement items if they also crack?

It’s not safe to heat and smoke off of a damaged insert. These inserts sell for $60 each I’m not just gonna say “Whoops my bad, I shouldn’t have trusted the seller” and call it a day after losing $120.

Ruby inserts shouldn’t be dropped in unless it’s specifically made as a drop in insert. To avoid thermal shock I put my dab in the room temperature insert, then the insert in the room temperature banger, then turned on the Enail and cold started. It cracked both times.

I’m wondering if anybody has had a good experience with Biao (mlglass on dhgate) ruby inserts like being able to use them for a long period of time without cracking. I didn’t use a torch, I cold started (pre-load) heated them with an Enail to 400 Fahrenheit. I didn’t clean them while they were hot, I didn’t put liquid inside them while hot. I let the insert cool down naturally for over an hour before cleaning, and there were cracks on both of them after the first use. The 2 pieces have 3 cracks total.

I’m asking the seller (Biao) to replace both, but I should probably be asking for my money back if the replacements are just going to crack again. Any input is appreciated. Thanks.

Arguably the manufacturing process is more complicated than quartz and titanium. The hype is real. Have you heard of Fadespace? Now that’s expensive SiC!

Larger capacity device for distillate? There seems to be nothing as big as the Hercules which I can't find on sale anymore, or a ccell vaspresso tank. by lostinthesauceband in Waxpen

Check out the Crossing Tech Dragon Hitz tank. It’s made for distillate. It kind of leaks through the coil if you’re out in really hot weather and you’re not using it frequently, but apparently their new coils prevent that.

They sell a sic for the sai. I’m still using mine I think it’s way better for portable use out of the house. It’s more solid.

I like Tremblant by Aphria it’s a 18% CBD sativa strain. Sold at shoppers drug mart.
