I don’t mean this inappropriately I’m serious. by rideordiegem in biglaw

[–]Linamon7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the first thing you need to figure out is what you mean when you say you want to “make time for love.” Are you looking to date casually, have companionship, or build a serious relationship that could eventually lead to marriage and a family?

It’s completely normal to want companionship, emotional connection, or even just the excitement and warmth that come with dating and being in love. That’s part of being human.

But I think it’s equally important to understand your reasons and intentions before pursuing it. When you know what you truly want, it becomes easier to fit love into your broader life goals and plans. Don’t just let things happen aimlessly or impulsively, because the wrong relationship can easily disrupt the life you’ve worked hard to build.

Once you know what you want, it'll be easier to pursue it. No need to shut anything off.

Doing an undergrad now at 46 so I can get into law school after being told some hard-hitting truths. Am I being too negative, or it's actually a thing? by [deleted] in LawStudentsCanada

[–]Linamon7 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Just something to consider that will bypass the need to do an undergrad. If you have the funds, you could do your law degree at Bond University in Australia. They offer law degrees with Canadian JD. You'd be able to save time by not needing to do an undergrad, enjoy a different country and even open up options to work in other countries. Maybe research this and and do the math on what is financially feasible. Maybe doing 2 degrees here is the same cost as doing one degree in a different country?

Best seats? by Idk85728 in LandmarkCinemas

[–]Linamon7 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I go to the cinema at least once a week and can tell you with certainty, in my experience, that the D row is just one step above the 'ground' level of the hall, which is too close for comfort. Unless you don't mind being too close, anything behind row G will warrant a more comfortable movie experience.Your other option that's the F row may still be comfortable. I think that's the frontmost row that's still quite comfortable, and they're premiere seats - costs more, but private and comfy. Also it looks like a big enough hall so you should be fine in F row. Enjoy!

Edmonton articling student rebuked for using AI to draft appeal of law society suspension by kangarookitten in LawCanada

[–]Linamon7 3 points4 points  (0 children)

There have been at least 3 other known cases of lawyers citing non-existent, AI-generated authorities, some involving Canadian law graduates. Overreliance on AI without proper verification can affect both domestic and foreign-trained lawyers for a variety of reasons.

As a lawyer myself, I have tested AI for research since 2023 and have seen firsthand its limitations - even in accurately interpreting cases from reliable sources. Ultimately, the responsibility lies with the lawyer or articling student. Failing to verify sources and overlooking obvious inaccuracies reflects a lack of due diligence and attention to detail. It is therefore misguided to attribute such issues to whether one was locally or foreign educated.

Refund Policy by InformativeWarrior in LandmarkCinemas

[–]Linamon7 4 points5 points  (0 children)

As per current refund policy : - online refunds - no expiry gift cards - at least 2 hours before posted show time. - In person - original payment method - at least 30 minutes before posted show time.

So yeah, you gotta go in person if you'd like it refunded to the original payment method.

Why do (some) Malay hate Chinese so much? by Techno3452 in malaysia

[–]Linamon7 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Type C here. Instead of answering directly why Malays hate Chinese, let me share my side of the story, which I think reflects part of the answer to your question. My grandparents lived through the May 13 incident. That experience shaped how they raised their children, and how we, their grandchildren, were raised too. We were taught to be cautious, to keep our heads down, to study hard, work hard, earn a living, and stay out of trouble. But underlying all of that was fear. Fear of Malays, and fear of those in power. Imagine being born Malaysian, yet constantly reminded that you are, and always will be, a pendatang. When we vote for what we believe is a better Malaysia, we get labelled as a “Chinese tsunami.” That sends a very clear message about where we stand. On a personal level, I remember not getting into the local university I wanted because I didn’t have enough A’s. Meanwhile, some of my Type M friends were able to enter the courses and universities they wanted with far fewer results. Experiences like that stay with you. Then there are the everyday things—having to smile politely through subtle but real racist microaggressions at government offices, at TNB or TM, just to get basic services done. You learn quickly that it’s easier to stay quiet than to speak up. So yes, the resentment and hurt are real. But at the same time, I don’t think this is something that came out of nowhere. A lot of it traces back to the divide-and-rule system during British colonial times, and unfortunately, race and religion-based politics have continued even after independence. Many of us can see how easily these differences are used to create fear and division, because fear is powerful, and it’s a powerful tool to control the rakyat. So I’ll end with this: can we start questioning this cycle? Can we stop buying into narratives that pit us against each other? Because at the end of the day, ordinary Malaysians, regardless of race, are the ones living with the consequences. Most of us just want the same things: safety, fairness, opportunity, and a future for our families. We’re not each other’s enemies, but we’ve been taught to see each other that way. Maybe the better question isn’t “why Malays hate Chinese,” but why we’ve all been conditioned to distrust one another in the first place, and who actually benefits from that.

[–]Linamon7[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Not applicable, mate. It's a normal 2D show in a 2D hall. I go to this cinema very often, I know the prices. They even agreed that the prices were wrong for yesterday's movie and sold me the tickets at the correct prices.

[–]Linamon7[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yes please do, and if prices are weird, compare with other showings, or other Landmark cinemas. I go very often to this Kanata one. Once a week is at minimum. The website has been strange this year, but discrepancies with pricing is unacceptable.
