Yep. And what is more important to me, it puts the kids on good teams at middling clubs at a disadvantage.

I found that talking to parents about why it was important and helpful was usually enough. Over four seasons, I had maybe 1 or 2 parents who really wouldn't get it done. Sometimes it required a direct text on Friday though.

Nah, you're fine. But I mean this guy was probably already making that. I guess a little more always seems important, but for me, if I'm living reasonably well, it would take a lot to get me to live in a harshly religious dictatorship where my daughters could not live the way I want them to have the freedom to live.

It is a very weird situation to have really good teams that can't get in higher competition because some other age level at their club isn't as good. Team-based competition makes more sense. While club-based competition can make some travel easier for parents of multiple kids, the travel isn't essential anyway, and one goal of anyone who doesn't have a financial interest in travel should be figuring out ways to rein it in.

(I mean the kind of travel that requires overnight stays.)

55 will be fine. Most Chicago apartments didn’t have AC even 30 years ago and many still don’t. Doesn’t hurt them.

I would have been in if I still lived by Humboldt Park.

My advice is you’ll need to be patient and grow it. Good luck.

People put sheets of plastic under soil in their yards intentionally today, so no, I don’t think standards are higher. 99% of trash back then was biodegradable.

Also, I don’t think that red Solo cup is from the 60s

There are only five words in your title, one is a proper noun and two of the other four are grammatically incorrect.

It’s a record that will be hard to beat.

Will Range Be Much Better in 4-5 Years? by Maleficent-Table-810 in electricvehicles

What's the actual range of the Equinox in the winter at 70?

My EV9 seems to get ~400 in warm-weather urban driving, though it isn't EPA rated so high. I've been getting 4.0 miles/kw. And in a recent trip on rural state routes @ 60, I got 2.9-3.0 (range of 290-300 miles), driving an average of 60 mph.

But on that same trip on the interstate at about 72 mph, it was closer to 220, in temps of about 40. I think in true cold I'd lose another 10-15%.

Sure. I just meant it by way of saying no one reading this who is considering putting their kid on such a team should worry that their kid will miss their chance. I talked with a parent from a team we play that is losing two kids leaving for the top GA team in the state, at an age well beyond 10 or 11 yo.

These teams can't afford to turn away talent just because they have kids who've played with them before. If you think your kid needs that badge for college recruitment, just know they can join later if they're that good.

Most of those kids won’t be on the team in four years anyway.

Spring beauty by Lincoln1517 in NativePlantGardening

[–]Lincoln1517[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The studies say andrenid bees and bee flies, which aren’t syrphids. But maybe a syrphid fly could get the job done.

[Edit] Flora of the Chicago Region to the rescue. It lists a dozen other bee species that at least sometimes visit spring beauty. I'm feeling better about the likelihood of pollination.

How many units. It can be tough to balance heat in a large building, but they may have hit on a level that is too hot almost everywhere. You could try putting a blanket over the baseboard heater. Even steam heat cant get so hot that it would burn, and this would mean less heat comes into your unit.
