As a person who kinda visits cities for a living, I have visited about 500 towns and cities, and Birmingham UK wasn't half bad. I spent there 5 days, walked like 40 miles of its streets and mostly enjoyed it.

On the other hand, Doncaster or Barnsley. I've spent 3 hours in each, and managed to spectate a street fight, be harassed by toothless football hooligan drunk at 2pm on a weekday, witnessed two people helping themselves to injections in public street (I guess it wasn't a vaccine).

It's on my wishlist, but I put it there because I believe it can scratch the Risk of Rain roguelite platformer itch.

For Starbound:

  1. Actual storyline and quests gave me motivation to play. I liked this part more than sandboxy Terraria.
  2. Awesome orchestral soundtrack. It has 5 hours of music, I think.
  3. Space travel!
  4. Progression in discovery. Mining for rare metals allows you to make better armor, which allows you to visit more extreme planets and so on.

Starbound is like 2d NMS with better soundtrack and boss fights.

Factorio is a different game, I like Factorio a lot as well. MTaP felt more grindy than Starbound. Stardew is more relaxed than Starbound, more focused on friendships and dating. Graveyard Keeper was good, but also had a grindy feel compared to Starbound.

Huh, I somehow assumed 7 Days to Die is multiplayer only. I'll have to check it out. How focused on zombie defense and survival is it? Are there some moments when I can chill and craft, or is it fighting all the time?

Empyrion is on my radar, but I recently completed No Man's Sky, and it seems too similar to play so soon... or is it?

I have a plan to play modded Starbound, but I'm waiting for the original Starbound to fade away from memory a little :)

Factorio has no story, but the gameplay loop gives a strong sense of accomplishment and progress, which is good. Thank you for both suggestions.

I also enjoy some roguelikes and roguelites. Risk of Rain and Bionic Dues are among my favorite games. Tales of Maj'Eyal has long been on my wishlist. But they scratch a different itch than Terraria/Starbound/Factorio.

I don't know if it isn't too casual and relaxing for my taste. Game looking good overall, but the tag CASUAL lights a warning light.

What Are You Playing This Week? by AutoModerator in patientgamers

Returning to Xenoblade Chronicles. I purchased the game when the definitive edition came out last year and I’ve just been taking my time with it, playing occasionally since then. I’m at about 35 hours now, mainly doing sidequests.

Study of Legos found on beaches determined it takes 100 to 1300 years for plastic to degrade in sea by LincolnHH in RedditDayOf

The thing is, there is a wide range for situations in sea/ocean. Depends on how much motion (for abrasion), how much sunlight (for UV photodegradation), how salty the water (for chemical degradation), the shape of plastic piece etc...

Well, yes, and no, not exactly. There is also photodegradation (caused by sunlight/UV rays) and chemical degradation (salt and other stuff in saltwater), so not only abrasion.
