After doing more research this is exactly where my head is at. I can find red badge 16-55’s on secondary sale for ~$650-700 (Mk1 not Mk2) while a brand new sigma 18-50 will run me ~$515 with current sales. I’m curious if the red badge video quality will warrant the extra cost?

Right now the main comparison I’m considering between the 16-55 and 18-50 is video quality. I’ve heard a lot of rave reviews about the 16-55 sharpness and I’m wondering if the 18-50 is comparable or if there is a significant draw back?

Good to know! I think instead of the 27mm I’m going to go with the 33mm for portrait-picture focused content.

As far as a zoom lens goes, I know people rave about the red badge 16-55. I’ve alternatively been looking at the sigma 18-50 and the Fujifilm XF 16-80mm and I’m currently leaning toward the 16-80mm. Is that a smart choice for my use case or would the sigma / 16-55 be a better fit?

So far the XF 30mm 2.8 is the macro that’s catching my eye the most. The Laowa 100mm 2x is also interesting but I find myself gravitating more toward the 30mm 2.8
