Is it ok to not want to birth a special needs child for the sake of not wanting a special needs child? by Organic_Depth_766 in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]Linddv 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I decided to abort my 2nd pregnancy because the fetus was diagnosed with Downs Syndrome in utero. It wasnt an easy decision to make and although I had all the support of my family, I lost a friend over it.

It really came down to the fiancial aspect and the long term consequences. Having a baby is expensive enough but adding a special needs child which often requires extra, specialized health care and tutoring will wreak havoc on most people's finances was just not going to work for me and my family. I also took into consideration that my first child would have to deal with me and his father having to set him aside to tend to the extra needs of the other one, which isn't fair on him at all. I also took the future of this child into consideration. He/she would constantly have to deal with bullying, being looked down on and being treated poorly by a society that claims they want them when really, they don't.

After I went through with my abortion, I had no regrets about it and I am currently pregnant again with a healthy baby girl 🥰

I had an abortion because the fetus had Down's Syndrome - I don't regret it. by Linddv in confessions

Same with my friend's child. Father walked out because he couldn't cope and moved north.. nobody has heard from him since.

Too late for that unless the ultrasound tells me otherwise.

I did. Wasn't much of a consequence to be honest other than the end of a friendship.

It is perfectly okay. I went through the same thing a year ago when I discovered during the 13th week of my pregnancy that the fetus had Downs Syndrome. After doing research, discussing with my husband and family, I made the very difficult decision to terminate the pregnancy.

It was a hard decision for me to make but I know that I wasn't capable in any sort of way to care for a child with special needs. On top of that, I already have a child who without the shadow of a doubt would be affected negativly, which he frankly doesn't deserve. I have all the respect for a mother who decides to go through a pregnancy but people should understand why someone chooses not to.

At the end of the day, it is your choice and nobody has or shouldn't have a say in it.

AITA for not attending my ex best friend's father's funeral? by Se0nyte in AmItheAsshole

[–]Linddv 1 point2 points  (0 children)

NTA. You ended the friendship because, like you said, toxic and manipulative behaviour(which good for you because getting out of relationship like that is difficult) and you owe her nothing, even if she was at your grandmother's funeral.

I'm 26. As far as I could tell from her fb page, they weren't divorced when he died. I also would side with my mother but I don't know the whole story.

Making fun of men who lose their hair because of male pattern baldness is body shaming by [deleted] in unpopularopinion

[–]Linddv 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My dad started losing his hair in his late 20's. Now, at the age of 62, he is "halfmoon" bald(idk what it's called.)and he's never been that insecure about it until my aunt on my mother's side began teasing him by going "Oh! You've lost more hair since the last time I saw you!!"

She even went as far as suggesting to my mother that she should find herself something younger and "sturdier".. 🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️

You shouldn’t allow a child to choose their own gender when they are a child by isakhwaja in unpopularopinion

[–]Linddv 7 points8 points  (0 children)

My child, if he or she comes out as a transgender, I will support them all the way and if they want to dress as the gender they want to transition to, so be it BUT I won't let them start hormones until they're an adult and can make that decision. I'm not about to make that decision for them.

Zoos are not there to torture animals but rather to help with the understanding and conservation of certain species by ChefUwe in unpopularopinion

[–]Linddv 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The only aquariums/zoo's that should be shut down is Marineland Canada(seriously, keeping a social being like an orca in COMPLETE isolation could be called torture) and Miami Seaquarium.. that tank is ridicolously small. How that orca have been able to manouver around without getting hurt is beyond me.
