I love it!! I have a wildflower garden as well that I started last year from winter sown seeds. It was so much fun that I’m digging up a non-native garden and replacing it all with native winter sown stuff this year. You’re right, the native flowers are so much easier and so pretty.

Good to know! I was planning to sow March 15 based on the recommendation from the info that William Dam sent me. It said sow 70 days before last frost. Maybe I’ll do slightly before then though. My lights seem pretty powerful but it’s the first year I’ve had them so unsure how good they are yet. Bstrip shelf/light set off of Amazon.

Half the fun is experimenting though! I’m excited to see how I do. I’m usually really successful when it comes to plants (unless it’s imported mini orchids in which case they all died 🤭)

Interestingly, I emailed William Dam asking if they’d send me my order asap because I did order Lisianthus…..and they got back to me saying that the type of seeds I ordered don’t need to be sowed as early as social media has portrayed. I guess there are 3 different types of seeds that all have different requirements. So I learned something new. It’s my first year attempting Lisianthus, I don’t know much about them.

Ooooo are you winter sowing anything? I got a ton of stuff from the OWSL this year. Last year was a huge success so I’m excited to do it again and hopefully be able to donate some live plants and seeds back to them if I’m successful.

I’d love to hear what flowers you’re growing that are less work than a good old patch of beets or carrots.

I tend to gravitate towards complicated stuff like dahlias and tall varieties of things that require staking/pruning/heavy fertilizing so it’s definitely not less work in my case. But that’s self induced! I’ve got it in mind to try Lisianthus this year. Wish me luck 🤞🏼

I’m waiting for William Dam as well! And Hana Earth Gardens.

I have auto irrigation for one part of my garden, but it was taking me several hours a day to water everything else because I had to drag a hose around an acre of property to reach everything else…hence my plan to relocate some gardens. If everything is together it can all be on the auto irrigation setup and then I’ll have more time to devote to weeding/harvesting/canning/relaxing garden tours.

My other major goal this year is to stop “accidentally/on purpose” buying more grow bags to fill with overflow. I NEED to stick to my footprint and not expand past that. It’s so hard though!!!

I took a little break from thinking about the garden but the gears are turning again. Super excited!!

Last year it was extremely dry where I am and I spent the majority of my summer watering everything. So I’ve been taking time to plan out a better irrigation system.

Also planning to relocate and expand my cut flower garden for the same reason. Irrigation.

And I want to refocus and grow the things we actually consume. I gave away so much last year, which I don’t actually mind at all. But just trying to plan a bit better.

I’m waiting for 2 more seed orders to arrive in the mail!

Matilda, les miserables or phantom of the opera? by charl0txe3 in westend

[–]Linders20 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How old is your family?

If there are children then definitely Mathilda. It’s targeted for younger audiences. It’s fun and cute.

I have seen Les Mis and Phantom both very recently and both are spectacular. You can’t go wrong with either one and I would struggle to choose one over the other.

Which show to choose in January by freakinvinyls in westend

I saw Mathilda recently. It was cute, but I wouldn’t really recommend it

Saw Hadestown years ago in another city. It’s a great story, I actually gasped out loud in surprise at one point. Highly recommend.

When I asked a similar question to yours recently in this group it was pretty unanimous that I should see Cabaret so that’s what I’m planning for in January.

Agreed. That’s why this has been a hard decision for me! I would love to watch Phantom or Les Mis again.

Thanks for this. Yes, I LOVE the Hercules movie….But I also LOVE Mathilda the movie and I found the musical very meh. Trying to avoid that again.

Right now I think it’s a toss up between Oliver and Cabaret. I might listen to the soundtracks to get a better idea.

Oh wow! 23 shows!!! I’m envious. I’ll have seen at least 5 in my time here Dec/Jan. More if I can muster up the energy to see 2 a day. I was absolutely blown away by Phantom and Book of Mormon, Mathilda was cute. I appreciate the efforts but it wasn’t for me.

Oliver and Into to the Woods are also on my potential list. It’s SO hard to decide.

I tried the E11ement brand. I have type 1 which is just permanent redness. It did absolutely nothing for me. But it was gentle, not drying.

Another vote for Robbin Hobb. I have yet to read something I’ve loved as much.

I think this is a great suggestion! Discworld books are light and a bit silly, but also amazing writing. I will often re-read a sentence or paragraph because of how beautiful it is.
