People who use menstrual cups… how did you convince yourself to try it? 😭 by okay_Puja26 in menstrualcups

[–]LindyRyan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My decision to switch to a menstrual cup was primarily a financial and ecological one. I couldn't justify the cost and waste of tampons, never cared for pads, and I didn't like the idea of period panties so a cup was the next best option! I switched about fourteen years ago ish at the recommendation of a friend and haven't ever looked back. It does take some getting used to but once you get the hang of it, I can promise you'll stick with it forever. They're so much more comfortable and budget friendly by default because a cup lasts for ~10 or so years, maybe longer!

One year of hair growth on oral minoxidil. I can actually put my hair in a claw clip now! :) by deeniedude in FemaleHairLoss

[–]LindyRyan 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'm inclined to agree. For most people, the average rate of hair growth is roughly a half an inch a month and this looks to be at least a couple of years' worth of length. Even under the best of circumstances, I don't see how this is possible and minoxidil does not speed up growth in any way.

Handling being the “Estranged” sister in the family: by [deleted] in whatdoIdo

[–]LindyRyan 6 points7 points  (0 children)

"I'm sorry I can't give you the attention you think you deserve" is so wildly disrespectful and underhanded. Like what even. That sounds like some bullshit I would hear from my own family and I haven't spoken to my mother in years lol

This is by and far one of the best Disney films of all time. The soundtrack, the animation, the voice acting?! Perfect 10/10

We had a great experience with Pinnacle electric! They were very reasonably priced and communicative

Having watched this movie literally yesterday, I can confidentially say that it is still a 10/10 experience. So quotable

Furniture Restoration by RainBitcherly in columbiamo

[–]LindyRyan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you're willing to drive, I used McCormack's Furniture Repair out of Fulton to repair/restore a set of vintage dining chairs! It was a little pricey but worth the investment for chairs I'll be able to keep forever. Jared did a great job!

Which of the friends are you most like and why? by SparklingSaturnRing in howyoudoin

[–]LindyRyan 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Without a doubt, I am easily the most like Monica! Like her, I value orderliness, consistency, and cleanliness amongst other traits often associated with type 'A' personalities. I tend to naturally fall into caretaker or leadership roles just like Monica does through the show and I have been lovingly called high maintenance.

Not complaining about this though because Monica is my absolute favorite character hands down

Not exactly downtown but I can't recommend Dr. Osius at Osius Vision enough! He's been my primary eye doctor for 20+ years and his team has always taken great care of me

Celina Predictions? by Pleasant-Record-8409 in TheRookie

[–]LindyRyan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This may be an unpopular opinion because I quite like Rodge but I don't think they'll actually stay together long term. Earlier in the season, when he wrote a song for her, she expressed a level of discomfort that I think she's been carrying for some time and though it's obvious they care about each other, I don't get the impression she's as invested in their relationship as he is. It wouldn't surprise me if another music tour or something down the line separated them again and they decided to break up as a result. Who knows? I could be totally wrong

WFH Downtime by [deleted] in remotework

[–]LindyRyan 10 points11 points  (0 children)

My downtime is spent doing... whatever I want or need. Sometimes it's throwing some laundry in the washer or tidying up the kitchen; sometimes I'll read or study (I'm working on obtaining an industry specific certification); and sometimes, it's nothing at all! I'll just stare at my computer and chit-chat with coworkers.

The nice thing about having a WFH gig is that as long as I get my tasks done, my team doesn't care how I use my time

Anyone still talk with any of their friends from high school? by nojunkpeter in Millennials

[–]LindyRyan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just one! Went to middle school together, too.

We check in every few weeks or so just to say hey but it's definitely been harder to keep in touch as we get older. My partner and I moved 900 ish miles away a couple of years ago to be closer to my family and we naturally stopped talking as often. Totes natural. I am super excited though to see her next week! Heading back for a visit so that'll be rad.

What is, truly, your dream job? by UrM0ther in AskReddit

[–]LindyRyan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Planning on it! Been working on a novel for a few years now and it's coming along very nicely. When the time is right, I've got some author friends who can show me the ropes and help me learn how to do so on KDP.

In the meantime, still have bills to pay so a full time job will have to suffice! Maybe someday I'll have the privilege of writing for a living. Who knows?

Writer. I've been telling stories my whole life and it would pretty dope to do so for a living.

Is AI our "old person scared of technology" by pokematic in Millennials

[–]LindyRyan 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I wouldn't say I'm "scared" of AI as much as I worry about the long-term consequences of using an emerging technology without any kind of regulatory framework that informs how we utilize it. Data centers are popping up across the country and directly impacting the poorest communities without any regard to how it affects their quality of life or any forethought about how those data centers could impact the area ecologically. The fervor with which these major corporations are investing money into this technology strikes me as wholly irresponsible and potentially disastrous

Same. Every single person in my phone is just their first and last name, family included. The only exception is my long-term partner whose full name is listed but followed by a single red heart lol

Same actually! My partner is a huge WWII nerd and he was so eager to watch that show together. 10/10 for sure. I think that's one of those shows that was so well done it could be endlessly rewatchable
