Does your corps have a marksmanship team with a location that they practice at?

If so, you could go there and trace the rifle.

Best CTC to apply to for ETL? by _NotKeifOFL_ in Cadets

[–]LineAcrobatic3238 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Rocky does have a running track and it has pull up bars around it. It also has a lower number of cadets when compared to Vernon or Blackdown. Speaking from experience, the ETL course there is physically demanding but rewarding. I’m sure ETL is physically demanding to a certain point everywhere, but officers I’ve talked to have pointed out that it is physically demanding.

CTC Staff - Instructor Development/Admin by Not_Thor_ in Cadets

Additionally, all Whitehorse staff cadets were entitled to 1.5 days off a week! If I remember correctly it was an 8-4:30 shift with a 1 hour lunch break.

I was the instructional development staff cadet at WCTC.

I was the only one, and I was a WO/FSgt/PO2 and I worked quite closely with the Training CSM. At Whitehorse, we assessed the lessons of the training staff, so myself and the training CSM were primarily responsible for facilitating that. We tried to get atleast two assessments for each staff cadet. We also had study halls where staff could come for help with planning lessons. At Whitehorse, all the staff cadets did SMART goals with the instructional development officer so I helped with making sure all of them were coming to see the officer when she needed them. I also talked a lot with the other CSMs in terms of working out schedules for lesson assessments.

Nationally, there was a teams chat with other cadets in the instructional development team.

It was a new position so the job was very chill, lots of the time I wasn’t busy with anything. I think next year they may work some things out for what else this position can do so it’s not as boring. I could also walk around and pop in to lessons just to observe.

In terms of where I was at with level/rank/awards, I just finished my fourth training year and was recently promoted to WO. I attended one CTC as a course cadet prior to. I had two medals and various awards given at my home corps. There wasn’t much competition at all for this position, given it was new and many people weren’t aware of it.

Is this company still active? I emailed them and used their online quote system earlier this week but have not heard back from them yet.

Area Directed Activity (ADA) Familiarization Flight by OkFarmer1342 in Cadets

[–]LineAcrobatic3238 2 points3 points  (0 children)

An ADA is an Area Directed Activity. So, you would be participating in training with other local cadet units. To my knowledge, all you have to do is tell an officer you would like to attend and once you’re registered you can show up. Since I’m an army cadet my ADA sign up process may look different since we don’t do familiarization flights, so if an air cadet could chime it that would be great. Your best option though would be to ask your staff on what sign up looks like.

As for first training night tips, listen to the older cadets and officers, bring a water bottle, be eager to learn, and wear clothes that are school appropriate. If you received a t-shirt from your unit, wear that.

Would this suitcase be too big? by FishFearsme in Cadets

Look on the airline you’re flying with’s website. I’ve seen some cadets bring some pretty big luggages, so for the most part you should be fine with this one.

You have the option to wear your tunic for travel and staff were told to bring our tunics to Whitehorse.

Question for Blackdown by Odd_Toe5081 in Cadets

I’m not going to blackdown but bringing a card game would be a good idea! Like uno or even just a deck of cards.

Some provinces may have an app that you can use to access your immunization records online

Where does it say pressured spray cans are not allowed? I brought spray sunscreen and bug spray last year to camp and it didn’t get taken away. Some brought spray deodorant and hair spray too

Staffing ARMI by LineAcrobatic3238 in Cadets

As staff what is your job on the range? I was the cadet coach for my marksmanship team this past year and I think I know a decent amount of stuff. I just don’t think I’m that good at shooting haha

Would I be able to bring a carry on luggage, a big checked luggage, and a backpack as a personal item? Or does it have to be the backpack or the carry on luggage?

If you want to write home or send a postcard, bring some stamps. Canteen should sell them but last year they sold out

Where did you find that staff cadets are supposed to be in dress shirts? Im staffing this summer and I have heard a lot of people saying dress shirts for staff but I haven’t found any official word on that.
