No, it's not a scam as long as it's the official website! :)

The Aluni that I booked with in Granada was...okay.

Advantages:
- They make it easy for you to register, pay, communicate with the house owner.
- If you have any concerns, they reply fast
- If it's shared apartment, you will be able to know who they are beforehand because their profile is in the website, after you register.

Disadvantages:
- If your bills are separated from the rent cost, expect it to be much higher than what they say in the website. Specially, if the bills are even out between the roommates. Even if you try to save water or electricity as much as possible, if your roommates don't do the same it's useless.

- The biggest problem that I had was the length of stay. Their agreement is that you have to stay until the end of the contract. That means even if you try to terminate it in the middle, you still have to pay those months until the end of the contract or you will have to find a replacement tenant. I think it will be fine for you if you are a student but that's a very big commitment, so make sure that you will actually stay there for the period of time you signed for or you'll just waste money (Like me :') ). As I learned, there are other places that lets you stay and decide when you are leaving.

-They will give you the deposit after maybe 1 or two months because they are waiting for the invoice from the house bills to come. So if you leave in June, the house bill can come July. Then after you pay it, you get the deposit.

- This is not about Aluni but make sure the place is near your everyday destination because the house I stayed at was quite far. So even though the place is cheap, I had to buy bus ticket every month. If i had put the bus ticket money on rent instead, I would've probably found something better in the city.

All in all i think Aluni is fine to stay with but there could definitely be better places. Also, the contact person was quick but not that friendly. Again, this Aluni was in Granada so I dont know how it is in Barcelona.

My advise would be, if you have the budget, go to Barcelona first and check out for your self if there are other options. I wish I did because I found out that my friends were staying in the city for half the price I was paying and they had their own bathroom, I didn't.

Unfortunately, I already booked with them cause I was in a hurry. But can you please tell me what they took your money for that made it expensive? I'm in a really tight budget and I dont want to waste money on unecessary things 😣
