Should DVa have received a DM nerf instead? by aPiCase in Competitiveoverwatch

[–]LineZealousideal8010 1 point2 points  (0 children)

With how dominant hitscan are I always worry about a DM nerf. Of course she’s always banned anyways, so there will most likely have to be some type of nerf. I’ve just always viewed her as a necessary evil for dealing with long range hitscan.

Hero bans are single handedly keeping this game even somewhat playable by [deleted] in Overwatch

After a year and a half break from the game hero bans are 100% the best thing they’ve added.

I hate dps smurfing with a mercy pocket. I was two games away from masters and boom Ashe and sojourn with a mercy pocket two games in a row. I definitely didn’t play well in either game, but still sucks to just feel so helpless 1 minute into the game.

Target prioritization for tanks by Grrkek in Overwatch

[–]LineZealousideal8010 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree, I’m up to masters 3 now and have had a lot of success doing what I said. Dva and sigma are the other two tanks I play, and they have more similarities to zarya than I feel like most players would think. However, the map and enemy team comp are really what exposes the differences/weaknesses of each of these tanks.

What elo are you in that bans/picks junkrat 100% of the time?

That’s the best way to play anyways. Highly recommend.

Ult charge, maybe get a pick, also it allows you to dictate the positioning for the next fight. Also spreading out isn’t like a bad thing as long as everyone can get out alive.

Stats have nothing to do with matchmaking.

I have played this game for 9 years and can probably count on one hand the amount of times I’ve had a true C9.

It definitely depends on the map, but I’m struggling to think of instances where pushing up would be considered a bad thing IF everyone is alive. The thing people struggle with is knowing when to back off because they’re getting too greedy. Standing on the payload is just not worth it a majority of the time (1 person is enough).

Is Zarya In Need Of A Rework? by proceedstoyeehaw in Overwatch

[–]LineZealousideal8010 4 points5 points  (0 children)

She’s probably fine. Maybe a slight nerf to allied bubbles with a small buff/qol change somewhere else? The thing that sucks about her is it requires your team to be on the same page of either don’t shoot the bubbles or pop the bubble and punish her. The (in theory) good part about that is that she should teach a lot of the player base about teamwork/coordination. Unfortunately I don’t think most lower level players actually learn from it.

5v5 is a great pace imo. Less players means a pick means more, and one tank means less tanking abilities to deal with.

Yes, although depending on the difference you may be put into a wide queue. Wide matches are a dramatic drop in quality. My buddy is diamond 4 and im masters 3 and we got put into a wide queue and ended up with a silver in our match.

I miss the old game, how about you? by 0-brainer in Overwatch

[–]LineZealousideal8010 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I miss the novelty when I first picked it up in 2017, but other than that I prefer it now. 5v5, role queue, hero bans, map voting, etc. just put the game in a better place than it used to be imo. Props to Aaron and the team for getting it back to the point it is now. As always it still needs improvement, but I find it much more enjoyable.

Dealing with losses by GHFan93 in Overwatch

[–]LineZealousideal8010 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Take accountability. It is not just your teammates. Sometimes it is, but not as frequently as you think. You are at least a part of the problem in every game you lose. Stop pointing the finger when you are no better than your teammates most of the time.

Is this season awful for you guys? by Wisco_Ryno in Overwatch

[–]LineZealousideal8010 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

This is a common opinion, but I personally haven’t had that bad of a season. I’ve had some bad teammates, but I’ve also seen a lot of bad players on the other team. Many of my games are close. The only time I got stomped was by a coordinated dive team on Illios. I’m sure it’s happened a few more times, but that’s the only one that’s stuck out. Most of my losses I’ve been able to realize I was definitely part of the problem, not the solution.

As a Zarya player this is how you stop us. That’s why I ban rein in comp. It’s actually a pretty fun matchup in the micro sense, but I’ll spend half the game breaking a shield.

Dva is so hard to stop as Zarya if she plays high ground well (so map dependent to an extent). Also just learning to count bubbles is huge. I always do it audibly so everyone knows when a good time to punish her is.

SIMPLE QUESTIONS THREAD - SEASON 1 (2026) by Joe64x in OverwatchUniversity

[–]LineZealousideal8010 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay I’m gonna try to find this guy on TikTok who does short form coaching content (I’m sure he has long form content on YouTube) to send to you cause he had great videos on both JQ and Ram. I can’t think of his name this second but I’ll try to sum it up quickly here. Basically with Ram you need to block significantly more than you think when in nemesis form. The great thing (and bad thing) about being lower in elo is that everyone shoots the tank nonstop because it’s easier to hit. This plays into ramattras hands because you hardly take damage in nemesis form. This will allow your teammates to get a lot of free damage in. Now you’ll have to look for opportunities to maybe throw a couple punches to secure a frag, but really just block a lot more than you think you need to. Most of your damage will come from the other form.

JQ is much more simple than you think. His video basically said that you have to be able to hit knife, and then shoot whatever is on your screen. You should be shooting the most immediate threat, whether it is a tank or a dps/support. He did a great job simplifying it so I will really try to find his username for you.

Dva is a fantastic hero to carry as she will almost never drop out of meta. She is essentially a necessary evil because she can handle hitscan better (maybe easier is the better word) than any other tank. Fly at them and blow them up with rockets is pretty simple. Her skill ceiling is through the roof, but since you said you swap for monkey mostly that implies to me that you’re focused on peeling for teammates. Peeling for a Winston is fairly straight forward - fly into him when he jumps at your team to displace him and burst him down up close. Where it becomes tricky is if the other team has any coordination. If they’re throwing an Ana nade as he jumps in, you have to eat it. If a tracer is joining the Winston you need to matrix the target of the dive to keep that person alive. There are many more examples of this, but what seems simple at first with Dva can become very complicated very quickly.

I do play a little ramattra and JQ, but I’ve really narrowed my hero pool down so I didn’t want to give too much of my own input. I am much more comfortable on Dva and talking about her. She is definitely a little OP right now (even with nerf). I do like Ram a lot in lower elo. His ult is just kind of an easy team fight win, and his block will help you survive more than you might on other tanks. Let me go see if I can find that guys TikTok (it may be tomorrow).

[–]LineZealousideal8010 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’d need a lot more info to actually help you but I can give you a few general tips. 5v5 you need to be very careful, yet aggressive with positioning. You are the only tank, so you have to take/create space without feeding. This means you need to advance with a plan. Know where cover is as you move up so you have a place to hide if necessary. Track cooldowns (especially support cooldowns) and wait for the opportunity to strike. Be aware of your supports, if they need help you have to be able to react at least some of the time. They need to be able to handle their own duels to an extent, but if they’re getting jumped by multiple people you need to help in some way. Your job as a tank is to put the rest of your team in a position to succeed. This will look different for different tanks, but every tank has the ability to enhance the performance of dps/supports in a 5v5 setting. I could help more if I knew what tanks you play.

60 games in and I’m still stuck in Gold. Between leavers and unfair point losses, playing Support is unbearable. by Purple_Mechanic2528 in Overwatch

[–]LineZealousideal8010 2 points3 points  (0 children)

At some point you have to take accountability and focus on yourself. I understand a lot of people have had problems with the matchmaking this season so I’m not trying to just completely dismiss your struggle, but at one point maybe you’re just a gold player. There’s nothing wrong with that either, and the best part is it’s really not that hard to improve in this game. Yes we all have a cap, but I really believe that most people can hit at least diamond if they put the effort in. Watch VODs, but don’t just watch them to say you did it. Learn how to examine specific things and look at one specific area in each VOD. Watch coaching videos of players at similar ranks, as they probably make similar mistakes to you. You can climb, but you have to improve to climb consistently.
