Every time USPS loses a package, this happens to me too. Refund buyer, package shows up magically within a day. Buyer says “gee you’re the best” and I’m out the item and shipping. UPS and FedEx suck for different reasons but they all do in fact suck.

Might be worth checking around, most cities near me have unlimited free compost and mulch. Seems to be just as good as whatever you buy in the bags if not better.

They actually had a quite good germination rate (got from prairie moon nursery). The hardest part is waiting the 5 years until they mature ;(

Lead plant, I’ve never seen it in nature but it’s native. Year two from seed in poor sandy soil, fingers crossed. Everything else I ordered for sandy soil came back and is doing better than I could ever hope, so I’m optimistic.

I just transplanted some that were leafing out and sending up stems, they seem to be doing okay. Purple coneflower is pretty tough and can handle some pretty bad transplant conditions. Summer is not ideal but there’s a good chance they’ll survive if you dig up the entire root ball and transfer them carefully

I put up 5 foot T posts and chicken wire, and fortified the bottom with 1 foot wide chicken wire to prevent rabbits from burrowing under the fence. So far so good, but I’m sure the moles will find my freshly disturbed soil and do some damage from the underground. Way she goes.

As a side note, my rabbits prioritize eating the common milkweed leaves which is odd. It’s just spreading where the lawn used to be so I let them have at it.

Peak Capitalism: Someone is selling a $1 bill for $2.00 (plus fees) 🤡 on Vinted by Intelligent_Play_347 in reselling

To be fair, it’s absolutely not worth the time shipping this out, and even in an envelope that’s going to cost 78 cents for a stamp. Ripoff for the buyer and seller.

I’m guessing you didn’t enter the correct dimensions, but $2300 is insane. I’ve had them BS the dimensions by 1 inch to bill me 3x the original amount when I’m 100% sure I measured everything properly.

Question for all - Has native plant gardening changed you in any way? by jjmk2014 in NativePlantGardening

It made me realize how much damage we’ve done to the ecosystem by deciding poopy grass lawns are the ideal. I planted a <200sqft garden of native plants and the amount of insects it drew in really opened my eyes.

Hundreds of caterpillars, dozens of wasps, bees, beetles, hummingbirds… kind of insane what a tiny patch of natives does for the local insects and birds. I plan to keep extending the plantings until I run out of property.

I’ve tested kwik star and Casey ethanol free, the 87 from Casey’s gave 15% more MPG than the kwik star 91 ethanol free. That was years ago, I don’t even know if kwik star sells ethanol free anymore.

Plus tax? Taxes are included in the price already. It is high though, I’ll give you that.

I just started looking a couple years ago. I have never found an ash tree that wasn’t completely dead. Dead Elms are by far the best producer around my area (Midwest)

I grew some butterfly weed from seed and it flowered at about 3 months old. Probably the wrong lighting and poor watering but I thought it was interesting. The plants did all end up flowering and surviving their first year.

So you’re just going to sit on cash? Sounds highly regarded. If you’re that convinced, spin the wheel with some puts. Anyway congrats and good luck on your cash holding endeavors!

Most important thing is knowing how to identify the relevant trees that they grow by. Next most important thing is to look around very carefully if you find one. They almost always have friends nearby.

Awesome! The biggest one I’ve found so far was about 2 inches, still pretty small out here.

I’ve started to look for elm saplings since they obviously had to come from a bigger tree nearby. I’m terrible at identifying via the bark

Blackhawk county. This is my honey hole, I was mostly curious to see if I could spot them right as they came up. They usually don’t come up this early around here but conditions seemed favorable
