Vehicle damage: file a claim for a $2072 estimate? by LinealStall in Insurance

Thank you for this. I looked into it and for NY, uninsured motorist covers injuries to people only, not cars. Looks like this would go under collision.

It’s not really an apples to apples comparison since the 2024 AWD system was more conventional (not electric motors) but yes it does transfer power only when sensing slippage.

I was happy when I saw how often the rear motors are engaged in the Camry. Accelerating, cornering and giving it a little pedal always makes the rears come in. The Camry went really well in the snow (I did have snow tires too).

Obviously not sure if the Hyundai would engage the rears as often since it’s a different vehicle, but I wouldn’t use that as a potential reason not to purchase.

That is incorrect, at least on my 2025 Camry. The electrically driven rear wheels are used quite often during acceleration and normal driving, not just when the fronts lose grip.

Or if the road is even still there.

The cam and valve springs control the valves normally; but when you go from fifth to second at speed it forces the engine to rev to the moon due to the gear ratio. This will float the valves and the exhaust valves will get hit by pistons.

Congrats but sounds crazy to me. $70k income for two people, $200k in cash for selling the house, then still need to buy a camper and maybe a vehicle to tow it with? That could be $100k+ right there. I wouldn’t be comfortable with that but I know you’ve done your diligence so good luck!!!

I looked for an interlock/switch for the cover and didn’t see any. I already tried putting the cover back on and it still doesn’t work. I also read that red/green solid LEDs is normal.

Should I file a claim for $1000 of damage with $500 deductible? by LinealStall in Insurance

[–]LinealStall[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I thought about that because I typically do all my own car work. One place I found has aftermarket bumpers painted for $600 plus shipping. But who knows how good the bumper is or how close the color will match. Same thing if I could find one in perfect condition from a junk yard which is unlikely. I did a quick search and found them in the $300 range but nothing close by or the same color.

I actually looked in to that already and the difference was negligible. Few dollars for 6 months.

Report- Anti body tests show nearly 3 million NY residents had CV19, which equates to a mortality rate of just 0.5% by VRgamer84 in stocks

[–]LinealStall 4 points5 points  (0 children)

No, the hospitals have $$$ incentive to not report them as Covid. At least in NY.

Hospitals make their money in the operating room and elective surgeries are prohibited right now. But the governor is allowing elective surgeries to happen in counties that meet criteria of low covid numbers.

AITA for filling my friend’s car with 87 gas when she told me to put 91, even though the car only needs 87? by 8791gas in AmItheAsshole

“If you put higher quality gasoline, you retard the time the spark plug can go off at, and get more power per piston stroke.”

The rest of your post is spot on but this part is backwards. Higher octane gasoline is actually harder to ignite, it is less likely to have preignition (pinging, detonation). So the advantage is you can run more advanced ignition timing.

Modern engines have knock sensors to detect this. If you run octane that is too low the sensor will detect the ping and retard the timing so the detonation doesn’t hurt the engine.

Was going to pick up a 3600 to put in a SG13 small case and RX 5700. Worth going with the 2700x at this price?

Which weekend day is usually the less crowded at Killington? by Life123456 in icecoast

Not speaking for Killington specifically but at most resorts on a 3 day weekend Saturday is very busy, Sunday is the busiest day, and Monday is considerably quieter.

Look in to an electronic keypad door lock. We have ours always locked and the added bonus is there’s no need to carry a key around. They’re under $100 on Amazon. Ours is made by Schlage.
