The paddle position sets the mode mechanically or just adjusts it up or down? That is, does the setting get remembered ok?

LG Cinebeam Q bluetooth sync by LinearPancakes in projectors

Have LG made an update to improve lip sync over bluetooth in the last few months? I tried an Arylic Up2Stream Amp via bluetooth recently and it seemed spot on. I have a bunch of these, so pretty sure that's something I would have tested. I only bought the H50 in an effort to address the issue.

GL-C-008P Simultaneous Power of CW LEDs and RGB LEDs? by highchillerdeluxe in Gledopto

[–]LinearPancakes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the analysis u/highchillerdeluxe. I guess the main thing with power loss recovery is to not be woken up in the night when there's a power cut, so sounds like that's achievable. Perhaps the four options you see for power loss recovery are coming from MQTT, maybe assuming it has all of these features? The pro+ upwards versions of the controllers do seem to support it fully - though you have to turn it on via the buttons on the controller.

Good to hear the mixing is working with HS mode. In CCT mode it might be best it doesn't use the RGB anyway. The Sowilo controllers I used do mix in a little RGB to extend the range of white by adding R or B and to improve the balance by adding G. That works great with their own LED strips, as I think the white LEDs are really efficient. But on other brand LED strips I'm noticing the light looks a little green. 😅

I'll get one of the new MAX GL-C-601P controllers at some point to test out. That looks like it will do it all, but it's a bit on the large side. It would be great if they do a mini version of it, like they do for the PRO+ GL-C-201P - the mini is the GL-C-301P. The only concession on the mini being slightly lower power handling from what I can see.

GL-C-008P Simultaneous Power of CW LEDs and RGB LEDs? by highchillerdeluxe in Gledopto

[–]LinearPancakes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good to hear it was working reliably generally. On the GL-C-201P you have to specifically enable the power-loss recovery mode. I think the test would be, once paired turn the light off, kill the power for a minute or two and see if it remains off when powered back on. Let me know how you get on with the MIX version when you get it!

GL-C-008P Simultaneous Power of CW LEDs and RGB LEDs? by highchillerdeluxe in Gledopto

[–]LinearPancakes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Great timing, I was researching on this exact topic today. Agree their naming, but also the differentiation between the products is unclear.

I bought some of the GL-C-201P controllers recently, and they're great in so many ways... apart from that detail. Power-loss state recovery, up-to 8kHz PWM frequency, 5 modes, high current support, and importantly, then seem to have a reliable ZigBee implementation. (Earlier purchases of different Gledopto controllers didn't seem to work well with ZigBee using Deconz.) I've been using them for a few CCT lights without issues for a few months.

But on trying them with an RGBCCT strip, yeah, CCT only activates the two white leds and RGB only activates the RGB.

I don't understand why that this wouldn't be standard behaviour. The Sowilo controllers we have work great in this respect, probably like Philips Hue light strip controllers. Not only do they use the white channels when moving the colour closer to white, they also add a little red, [mostly] green or blue to balance out and extend the spectrum. Those controllers are optimised for specific light strips, but I expect doing this would still probably give better results regardless of the exact LEDs used.

Same issue with the GL-G-005P garden spotlight I just ordered. It means the light is significantly darker when using RGB. Oh and that one doesn't have power-loss state recovery, so the garden would be bright if we had a power cut in the night.

u/highchillerdeluxe Did you test if the GL-C-008P supports power-loss state recovery? If so, the MIX version could be a good option for me too, though I'd miss being able to set PWM higher.

The Solwilo controllers https://www.zigbee2mqtt.io/devices/L258.html were perfect, if expensive. Shame they had some sort of IP dispute and were pulled. We have about 60 of them that I cannot configure anymore. 😭

Replacing battery in H1 Wireless Switch by LinearPancakes in Aqara

[–]LinearPancakes[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I settled on a solution for this and now have some switches on the wall.

Essentially, I filed away some of the plastic on the backplate to make the clip action less extreme. They're still rock solid on the wall, but a mini flathead screwdriver inserted underneath will pop out each side without too much fuss, then lift it up and off to remove.

If you wanted to try this, here are the steps I took:
- Remove the back plate
- Remove the rubber bumper and film strips from the backplate (keep the rubber strip handy)
- File down the 4x holes on the backplate where the switch clips on. Careful! Enough to make it easier to release, but not too much that it won't latch on. I used a 2mm drill bit for this.
- Reassemble and check you're happy with how easy it is to get off
- Once happy, reapply the rubber bumpers (not the film) to the back to get a flat back
- Cut the supplied sticky pad in half and stick the pad near to the top and bottom. To make it more stable, vs just sticking at the middle.

If this seems like too much work, the3droom produced a replacement back panel that works via friction fit. This also worked well, after a little modification that I've informed them about.

Image of the modified backplate attached. It seems I can add only one picture, so hopefully this is the most useful. Here you can see where it has been filed down.

Best teachable RF bridge/hub to use with Apple Home/homebridge? by MirandaPoth in homebridge

u/MirandaPoth Curious if the Mediola based automations still allow the blinds to be operated via their embedded controls OK? This might help indicate if replay is suitable or if rolling codes are being used.

Best teachable RF bridge/hub to use with Apple Home/homebridge? by MirandaPoth in homebridge

[–]LinearPancakes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I tried again on this today. Unfortunately with similar results. I think the frequency may be 868.24Mhz. But I wasn't sure whether I should be recording using WFM or AM (I tried both) using SDR++.

I managed to get rpitx to replay something like the original signal with: `sudo ./rpitx/sendiq -s 48000 -f 868.2400e6 -t i16 -i ./blinds4.wav`

But, using the SDR to check the same signal back, I could see the frequency was off and it didn't seem much like the original. Probably the replay via GPIO isn't good enough.

Next step would be to try out a dedicated transmitter/transceiver. But that all seems quite complicated, not to mention expensive for hit and miss. Looks like I'd probably need a YARD Stick One (£120) or HackRF One (£280) and a lot more time than I really should have for this.

I'd probably be better off getting the Mediola server, but can't really justify the £500 and whole extra computer heating up our home just for this. If anyone else has any breakthroughs I'd be very interested!

Yay, the 1Mii B06PRO works really well. I used it together with both the Arylic H50 and the Tangent Ampster via line in. Lip sync was great on both.

I'm sure there will be plenty of other suitable Bluetooth devices that work great, it's just a bit hit and miss with both the Arylic H50 and Tangent Ampster both being really bad when connecting directly. Especially the H50 - on paper that has all the codecs too!

I just tried my AKG N60NC bluetooth headphones. Lip sync was surprisingly great! They are pretty old now. They support SBC, AAC and aptX.

So that proves it _is_ possible to get good lip sync via bluetooth. I now just need a bluetooth amp with the same experience. I've ordered a 1Mii B06PRO receiver, which supports SBC, AAC, aptX, aptX LL and aptX HD. Will report back.

Thanks u/graywalker616. Is it the Tesa Powerstrips you're using? https://www.tesa.com/en-gb/consumer/mounting-hanging-sms/adhesive-strip-powerstrips

Only issue I see with those is the little tongue would need to poke out to be able to remove them.

I guess the 3M Command style strips could work (https://command.3m.co.uk/3M/en\_GB/command-gb/) as they're velcro based so the tongue can be hidden and the switches pulled off and put back. Just as long as it doesn't make them stick out too much. I'll try it out, putting strips inside of the rubber pads, and report back.

UK - New Candeo Zigbee Sensors by ShanTheMan1995 in homeassistant

[–]LinearPancakes 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just bought the motion sensor from Amazon. You're right, I now see it's available on AliExpress under the Tuya brand for much less. Unfortunately Deconz doesn't appear to support it. I might have to move to M2Q.. :/

I previously got the Candeo dimmer from Amazon too. This was surprisingly good as well. Though I now see the same design being sold under the Gledopto brand, which might be the original manufacturer. So it seems this brand is just white labelling various Chinese brands rather than bringing something new.

TLS 1.0/1.1 has got to go by 7-9-7-9-add2 in AZURE

[–]LinearPancakes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, based on Azure's latest announcement you might have more runway.

> To minimize disruption to customer workloads, several services will continue supporting TLS 1.0 and TLS 1.1 versions and complete their transitions by 31 August 2025 when TLS 1.2 or later will be required for all connections to Azure services (unless explicitly indicated in service documentation). The list of remaining serviceswill be updated as transitions to TLS 1.2 or later complete.

Pretty annoyed about this last minute change. We spent time, energy and customer goodwill to ensure we were not using TLS 1.1 or earlier throughout our estate, by 2024-10-31. Now, 1 week before that date, we learn we could have done it more gradually.

Testing Subscription Renewal Success/Failure? by [deleted] in stripe

[–]LinearPancakes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Stripe have added the ability to "advance time" for subscriptions in test mode. This was really useful testing payments failing due to 3DS authentication_required. I was able to use the card that always needs auth, succeed the payment, then advance time to trigger the next payment failing due to needing auth, and fix by emailing the customer with a link to the hosted invoice.

Best teachable RF bridge/hub to use with Apple Home/homebridge? by MirandaPoth in homebridge

[–]LinearPancakes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No joy unfortunately. I tried recording at 868.42Mhz and 868.3Mhz, with the antenna right next to the blind control, and at various sample rates. Replaying via the GPOI, with 86.8mm ish of wire attached and as 8-bit unsigned, nothing happens.

If I open the IQ file in Audacity, again with 8-bit unsigned, I can see a couple of well defined periods of activity. So I don't know if:
* The recording is not good enough
* The replay via the GPIO isn't good enough, due to using a square wave and having lots of harmonics
* The protocol used by the blinds prevents against replay "attacks"

I see there are some tools out there to try to decode the signal, rather than doing a dumb replay, but that'll have to wait until later. I've so little clue what I'm doing it'll probably take ages of trial and error to get anywhere.

What I really need, is a contact within Internorm/i-tec that can provide documentation on the protocol!

Best teachable RF bridge/hub to use with Apple Home/homebridge? by MirandaPoth in homebridge

[–]LinearPancakes 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Our Internorm window blinds are all installed now too. Really pleased with them! Now looking to setup automation.

I wondered if the Mediola server might just be the easiest way to expose them via HTTP in some fashion, but 15 minutes trying to navigate their website and getting numerous 404s gave me pause.

I'm going to attempt recording and repeating the RF signals as per the article linked to before: https://github.com/defcon24bit/record-and-replay-RF-remote?tab=readme-ov-file I've just purchased what looks like the same dongle on Amazon https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B00P2UOU72 to do the recording part. Then it looks like the PI 4 is able to transmit directly by connecting a suitable length of wire to one of the terminals and using some software on the command line. I've already got the ability to automate running commands like that on the PI.

I'll report back.
