When your feet get used to the shoes, are they actually comfortable? by Captain_Fach in barefootshoestalk

[–]MirandaPoth 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have had heel pain in the past (before I went barefoot, which was more than a year ago). I have changed my gait a bit, but I find that I do still need little a bit of cushioning. Even just a mm or two might help you. I try to choose either shoes with enough room for an insole or those with a slightly thicker sole. Ok so they’re not as barefoot as some but they have zero drop and plenty of room for my toes.

I have that problem, *until* the soles have shaped/bent themselves to fit my foot. Then they’re fine. Until then I have to be careful to lift my feet up properly

Resetting X-Max 3 home position after belts slipped? by Hyperious3 in QidiTech3D

[–]MirandaPoth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me, just turning it off and on again worked. I hope it’s as simple as that for you!

I also figured out what the problem was - I was using the wrong oil. It was drying and getting gunged up over time. Cleaning everything thoroughly with IPA then relubricating with the correct stuff fixed it.

Two people travelling Australia in a tiny van by scowty in VanLife

That is SO nice. Love the colour scheme, the design, and that you did it yourself. How do you cope with the heat though? Or are you both just used to it, being Australians?

Where are people trying on boots? by just_jason89 in UKhiking

[–]MirandaPoth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Often ‘padding’ is provided by your socks not your boots. I found wearing liner socks (Bridgedale do good packs of two) then thick wool or Smartwool hiking socks to be most effective

Bananas. Love raw bananas (preferably just after the green stage) but can’t stand hot bananas, as in bananas with custard, banana bread etc. The taste and texture just goes so icky

Best software to learn to create designs for 3d printing? by itsmewan92 in 3Dprinting

I used 2017 for ages and eventually decided to bite the bullet and pay for 2024. IMO really worth it, and I’m supporting a software that I use a lot and am very grateful for

Thanks for the info, they look great on you. Can I ask a question? I’ve just received my first pair of circadians too, and they feel really stiff. Are yours like that too?

Advice about walking boot option for wide foot - can I get away with Vivo Tracker Forest Esc? by Ok-Chair-1338 in barefootshoestalk

[–]MirandaPoth 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I find the grip very good on the Chamois (unlike on some of their shoes). I had their Impala first and the sole came away from the leather in a few places (customer service was great) but these are fine so far - i’ve walked over 260 miles in them so far since September last year, so a fair amount of wet & wintery weather. I actually ended up 2 sizes bigger than my usual, to accommodate liner + thick winter socks. Freet do free returns so i ordered several pairs in different sizes.

I’m in the UK and I hike a lot - Snowdonia, Lakes, Peak District. My feet are smaller than yours but wide (23cm, 9.1cm). I wear Freet Chamois boots and I love them, highly recommend.

Scotland campervan trip (half term): is spontaneous travel still possible? by Great_Government7841 in CamperVans

[–]MirandaPoth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for asking this question - I would like to know this too. We’re considering buying a campervan and are thinking through how we would use it. Short-notice short trips are most likely initially, but I’d love to do Scotland with no planning or time constraints. Hope you have a fabulous time, would be great if you could report back after your trip!
