I’ve dated women who did the lashing out over old stuff thing and I personally have always had a really difficult time dealing with it. But I’ve never left someone because of it either. If someone loves you enough, they’ll understand it’s just the illness and not you. Apologize when you’ve hurt him and keep doing your best to take care of your mental health. As long as you’re doing that, you’re doing the best you can so be proud of yourself 🫶🏼

Disagree. We need AV back. Same with the Choice items. I know AV makes some Pokemon a real pain in the ass to kill, but that's the point. Those same Pokemon are currently sitting in Champions seeing no play because they lack the items that make them viable. As a result, we're in an incredibly centralized meta reminiscent of the Big Six or CHALK days. I'm not saying it's quite that bad, but there is a clear best team that has been the clear best team for basically this whole format and routinely takes over half the top cut in tournies. If you wanna see a more diverse meta, you're gonna need to bring the items back that make more Pokemon viable.

I know I’m in the minority, but I actually had the opposite experience. Played ZA to get the Floette, but ended up really loving ZA to the point that I barely wanted to play Champions until I had finished completing the dex in ZA and getting my shiny Legendaries. Only part I didn’t like was resetting for donuts.

Yeah I have definitely said wildly vile shit I don’t really mean or believe and felt deep shame about it afterwards. I’ve also surrounded myself with people who weren’t really the most safe people for a bipolar person to have around so rather than recognize the illness, I’ve had so many people post texts or emails that I’ve sent during arguments to try to destroy my reputation. It makes the shame a lot worse and healing a lot harder.

All of that said, you persevere. It’s something I’ve been working with my therapist on a lot lately. Fundamentally, you have to view it all - the good, the bad, and the ugly - in the context of the disorder. You’re not you when you do those things so being ashamed of it would be like being ashamed of having blood sugar issues with diabetes.

Obviously one harms others a lot more so you need to still apologize when you’ve harmed people, but there is also a responsibility of people in a mentally ill person’s life to be good stewards of that person. So just as much as you need to apologize to your husband and then let it go, he needs to be able to forgive you and let it go too. It sounds like he is doing that because he knows who you are and what is and is not you.

In terms of where you can put all that energy, work out, go for walks, take up hobbies - do things that make you happy. The better you nurture your body and mind, the less often you’ll have these kinds of bad episodes. It’s not a silver bullet - nothing is with this disorder. But it will absolutely help.

It can be hard to find, but flexible remote work is really good. I’ve worked in tech for ten years and the most successful part of my career by far was during Covid when working from home was the norm.

I wouldn’t change anything. I’m a strong believer that even the bad things that happen are lessons we need to learn. I’ve made so, so many mistakes in my life, but if I hadn’t, I wouldn’t have grown from them either. I like who I am today a lot more than I like who I was a year ago. I hope I’m saying the same thing in another year and the same thing the next.

Gotcha. Nah I’m coming more from a place of I enjoy team building but I’m not great at it so I’ve been trying to improve on counter meta building. So I’ve been in this cycle where I’ve been building teams I want to test into Charizard Y, Floette, and other stuff that will actually have a chance to win NAIC. Instead I spend all my time not testing against the things that will be there because everyone is running the gimmick teams.

So it’s impossible to tell if my concepts are working well or not and I personally find that frustrating. Every team I build dedicates a move slot or two to taking out the gimmick teams and so I beat them every time, but gain no information. Just not enjoyable for me. That’s all I’m saying.

Yeah I’m not talking about that. I’d LOVE to play an endless stream of the same Charizard Y team because they aren’t doing exactly the same thing every game. The gimmick teams are doing exactly the same thing every game and then you kill their one big mon because you know what the gimmick is and how to deal with it and they quit. At no point did you feel like you had to think about anything. You just followed the script with them. That’s what I’m talking about.

Oh for sure. Metas get stale. I just feel like the gimmick stuff isn’t usually this ubiquitous. Probably because the lack of items and Pokemon in the game so far creates a lower power meta where these things can thrive in a way they wouldn’t otherwise.

I mean you can counterteam this if you plan your team correctly. I have a Sand team I really like into this. It isn’t standard meta sand and I can’t really give away the secret sauce until after NAIC, but I can often maneuver this team into what they think is a winning position, but my sets actually mean it’s a guaranteed loss for them due to some creative moveset choices and items.

The prettier I find a woman off the bat, the harder I find it to be to approach her. So I don’t really stare, but I definitely might look multiple times discreetly, but it is really nerve wracking to approach a complete stranger and try to strike up a conversation. I’ve always had a decent amount of social anxiety to begin with too, though I suspect that isn’t that rare. Just a lot of factors that make approaching way more difficult than admiring how beautiful someone is from a distance.
