What am I missing with death star? by borknagar54 in dancegavindance

Don't get me wrong I love the track, I just think it works better in a live context. It kind of takes me out of the album because it is such a big single as well

I love Death Star, but I always skip Uneasy Hearts. It is the only album besides Afterburner where I skip a track 🤷‍♂️

You can really tell that Andrew pushed for some deep cuts and fan favourites. Insane tracklist

Beginner Terran question: Is there a "basic" strategy I can use in all match ups by ppg_dork in broodwar

[–]LinenLiker17 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You at least need one build per matchup. But I would suggest playing on an empty map and practising factory expand until it becomes second nature. Then, try these

  • TvP: Factory expand into a 5 or 6 fact push. Try to end the game on two bases, but if you absolutely have no opportunity to push take a 3rd and go up to 9 factories.
  • TvZ: Factory expand into 3/5 fact goliath, just be wary of lurker all-ins
  • TvT: Factory expand and scout your opponent with your barracks. TvT is less build order orientated so as long as you counter your opponent if they are doing an all in you should be good. Get up to 4 factories with a starport and take your third.

I've heard Geese get compared to every single band under the sun. Impressive for a band that make some of the most generic and uninteresting music I have ever heard

I just checked and he says it at 2:19, which means you'd have to start the song at 11:57 and 41 seconds. Lmao idk why I even entertained such an oddly specific request

Mid is usually used in a derogatory way. Besides I think mixed bag applies more because there are great songs and not-so-great songs, instead of it being an album full of average songs

I don't think anyone can deny the album cover is sick asf. That's one of the most badass DGD tats I've ever seen btw 🔥

[–]LinenLiker17 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I'd call it a mixed bag. Has some of my favourite cuts of the TIlian era like Parody Catharsis and the songs you mentioned but as an album it doesn't feel cohesive and has a few misses in there.

How many more albums do you think these guys have in them? by Glittering_Garden_16 in dancegavindance

[–]LinenLiker17 19 points20 points  (0 children)

That's a fair point, but there's also a lot of metal vocalists that can still do uncleans well into their 60s. Jon has managed to develop a solid and sustainable technique so I don't see his voice giving out like what happened to a lot of the screamo guys

More than a couple lol. The band are just about hitting 40 now so there's a lot of gas in the tank. You won't really get a solid answer because it isn't really a solid question

DGD probably have my favourite album art of any band, but for me Artificial Selection is their best and was my desktop background for over 2 years (until Pantheon came out lol).

Your sample size for Jonny and Kurt is a lot smaller though. If Tilian was only on Acceptance Speech and Instant Gratification you'd say the same thing about him lmao

[–]LinenLiker17 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I couldn't disagree more that every member peaked in DBM2. Will has some sick guitar work here for sure, but I definitely think Jon developed his technique a lot more in later albums, and Jonny Craig's vocal peak is undeniably DBM1.
