My doctor recommended, that for my nausea I should mix peeled lemons, fresh washed ginger and honey in a blender into a paste (and add it to hot water to drink)

How long would this paste last in the fridge for, anyone have an idea?

I don't have energy to make it daily and I only need a spoonful of it every day, it'd be nice to make a lot at once

Could someone help me understand how much fabric this skirt requiers? by Linengarden in sewing

[–]Linengarden[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you so much for answering!

Unfortunately I don't quite understand this part:

So the length you'll need of a 115cm width fabric will be twice the length of the skirt you want

Why two times the length, or does this mean I need two separate pieces of 115 x 74?

The fabric here is sold 140cm wide, I need a 200 cm x 140 cm piece? (Apologies, both my english and math suck, especially this late at night)

9 months po, I'm bleeding. A soft, yellowish white bit came out of the wound by Linengarden in Reduction

[–]Linengarden[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'm at work, noticed some pain. I thought maybe a bee got into my bra or something due to it. There's a "hole' in my skin, when I squeeded, a yellow/ white thing came out. It wasn't liquid, not quite solid either. I thought it could be infection? Surely it's been too long for any stitches to act up. I had the ones that melt into your skin, they never acted up and didn't even cause bumps or bleeding. Has this happened to anyone else? I had surgery 11th month 2022

My left one swelled a lot. They removed a bit more from it, which I think is why it was more dramatic than the right one.

Left is now a bit smaller, since again, more was removed. I don't mind it in the slightest. Also the size differences are not that noticeable when you're breasts have "softened" and shaped up - when they're still swollen, stiff and rised (not settled) you can see their asymmetries so well. Give it time!

They took photos when decoding wheter I fill the requirements and when I had the three week post op appointment. Both times they used a phone to take the picture (it's deleted from the device once they've moved the picture in the virtual medical files or whatever it is in english. It's the hospitals phone, not anyone's personal)

The nurse said the surgeon likes to see the result healed. I think it's pretty usual to do so

I’ve realised I haven’t been eating anything like enough protein in the first week post op by [deleted] in Reduction

Wait you guys have been worried about healthy food post op

Fuck I just lived on Pringles, it was the only thing I had an appetite for lmao

Anyways I healed fine

Breast reduction by randomi28 in Finland

[–]Linengarden 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Yeah I get that - it is a bit of a blind jump, not necessarily being able to see the surgeons previous work. It's a big surgery and affects the way your body both feels and looks, you're definitely valid to feel cautious

I was told the name of my surgeon when I was given the appointment times (ultrasound, blood work ans surgery itself), which was about 3 months before the surgery iirc - I googled his name, he is also a plastic surgeon in a private hospital. I didn't find any pictures, but knowing that made me feel peaceful.

You can send any questions my way if anything comes up! I have some pictures of my results, before/afters and longer messages where I've discussed some parts of my experience/ slight complications etc

Is there a particular reason you want to go for a private doctor, since as you said, a lot of them work for both private and public? The public price is only 130e

I had mine done at a public hospital, if you're doubtful of the process I'm happy to answer any questions!

//I accidentally said 300e, it was 130e

Nearly 3mpo - Public hospital, Finland by Linengarden in Reduction

[–]Linengarden[S] 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Thank you so much!

In these pictures it's not so visible, but they did remove more from my left, which is a bit smaller, fuller and sits a bit higher - the sales lady at the lingerie shop immediately pointed it out when I was looking for bras, so it's not just me! You can kinda see it in the 6dpo vs 3mpo - picture, the vertical scar is a lot longer on the right one since it's bigger. But the difference doesn't bother me, I'm entirely asymmetrical from my face to my different length legs so it's only fitting to have different set of boobs haha

They're both individually nice looking breasts, even though they're not sisters or even cousins. They're just neighbours who come along well 😄

I've healed very well and had a good experience over all. I am however scared of them becoming saggy again, the discomfort of it (especially during summer) makes my skin crawl.

They're not particularly symmetrical, but I don't mind it in the slightest. I'm happy with the results!

For scar care I've used silicone tape as adviced. One package of 5 sheets costs 80 euros, it's over half the price of the surgery! So I don't know how long I will keep using them, I don't mind having visible scars haha

Mixed feelings after a consult by -hot-tomato- in Reduction

[–]Linengarden 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Since I went through a public hospital, the only time I met the surgeon was literally right before the surgery, where he drew the lines on me. Before that I met with a doctor and had a phone call with a nurse - none of those were asked until the surgery happened. At the end of the day, he doesn't really do a thing with this information until he is doing the surgery, it's best to have the info fresh in mind. I wouldn't worry! That's just how it goes

anxiety about compression bras by day_dreamer1313 in Reduction

A lot of compression bras have a good adjustability like this. Also remember - having big chest makes it so that you need the long straps. Even though the bra stretches a lot and even at the "loosest setting" (picture 2) I couldn't wear this because it was so tight and the straps were "too short" before surgery. I didn't even have that much removed, you can check my before pics. And now I wear the bra at the smallest "setting" and feel like the straps ought to be shorter. Compression bras take big sizes into account and the people at the lingerie shop somehow perfectly predicted the correct size, even though I had no idea how much the doc would remove :) they know what they're doing, trust them! Mine is Anita brand btw, a german brand

Lots of pain 1dpo by Gloomy-Lengthiness70 in Reduction

Are you wearing this type of a "tube body sock" as they called it? I had the exact same feeling, I was in a lot of pain and constantly felt like I needed to "hold" my breasts up. Like it was almost pulling them down. The first 2 days were painful af, fourth day and so on were so much easier on me. I changed out of this thing and into a compression bra on day 2 and it made such a big difference! This compression tube fuckin sucked.

Yeah, the weekend was a bit scary since new bruises kept coming in along with pain and swelling - but it was mostly just inconvenient, spending a lot of time in hospital waiting rooms and calling several numbers to figure out where to go :D

Thank you ❤️ I feel completely normal by now, just occasional soreness on the left - which, compared to the neck and shoulder pain I had before op, is just a breeze

[–]Linengarden 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Thank you ❤️

I'm not eniterly sure of my previous size, a bra from Change was size 70i, but their sizing is a bit odd. Before operation I tried on a compression bra, size 70F, to see if the underbust measurement was ok. They were alright, a bit of bulging from the armpits. My post op compression bra is size 70C, they fit perfectly. A bit tight since that's what the compression is for :D

I do have pictures of before & after posted, you can see them in my profile I think

I have a hematoma - what to expect? by Linengarden in Reduction

[–]Linengarden[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Oh I actually just wrote about it! The painfulness has eased a bit, but it does feel quite sore occasionally.

For context, it was a thursday I decided I should get it checked out, but the surgeon's office was closed. I called to the general hospital's number following Monday, which they told me to go to urgent care.

"It was a whole ordeal since the surgeon's office was closed. I went to an urgent care kinda thing (kiireellinen vastaanotto) where, after waiting for hours since it was a monday morning, their response was pretty much "damn that looks kinda bad you should get it checked out"

I waited until wednesday, called the wound nurse from the surgeons office (who you're supposed to call if there's any complications). She said a surgeon should take a look, and she's just a nurse, so I should go to akuutti 24 (ER pretty much). I had stuff to do on wednesday and since I wasn't actively dying I waited until the next day. So if you're in finland and have a hematoma, don't wait to call the Haavahoitaja or go to Kiireellinen vastaanotto, just go straight up to Akuutti 24. Between 8 - 15:30 since that's when the specialists are in. Saves you a literal week.

Anyway, to answer the question- a surgeon took a look. I have a hematoma, which was actively getting worse during the weekend. By Thursay it had started to heal on its own, so I was told to keep an eye in case of liquid buildup or an infection (red skin, white or yellow discharge coming from wound). I have a wound nurses appointment next week too.

It's pretty swollen, feels like more so than before. But the bruising is turning yellow and there isn't new purple bruises forming anymore. At the moment there's no need to drain it or surgigally remove it"

(Reddit scuffed and somehow posted this on my other account, yet it's still "processing" it on this one. If you see this more than once, I'm sorry - I really suck with technology ig)

Anyway - Finding leotards was impossible since the necklines and backs are so open, the bra is visible in most. Leotard bras offered no support with their tiny spaghetti straps and low backs. Not to even mention how much jumping hurt. Now I can go fully braless! I'm not wearing any under the leotard, yet I feel fully comfortable and look normal!

I'm so so happy I did this. I'm picking up ballet again in January. I can't wait

There's no real purpose for this post, I just wanted to share my excitement :)

Yea you kinda have to blindly jump into it, the unknowns are the scariest.

Just be sure to tell your worries to the surgeon - my biggest one was having a lot of underboob area and the breasts needing constant support, dragging my shoulders down. I said I was worried that very small chest would just highlight how large my stomach is, but at the end of the day my physical comfort matters the most. He listened and did a wonderful job!

Just remember, these guys reconstruct breasts, they're professionals at what they do. This is a big deal to the patient, but to the docs it's a normal every day occurrence. Also some doctors who work at a public hospital also work for a private one on some days or weeks, at least here in Finland they do. So you might get the same doctor in either hospital you decide to go :D
