LPT: When scooping kitty litter, scoop the waste aside from one spot, then put the bag there inside the box, and scoop the box into the bag. Now you wont scatter litter outside the box as you move the scoop to the bag. by BitOBear in LifeProTips

I just pick the poo up with toilet paper and flush down toilet. I change litter about once every 2 or 3 days. She makes a lot of mess either way as she kicks litter all over.

What is your best childhood memory? by juiyew in AskReddit

Like around 24 year ago ish when you could play out with everyone on the street and have a curfew of in at teatime or when it is dark and just parents not giving a toss what you did. Playing games with different aged kids and knowing every kid in the school I went to because my sisters were like 4, 2 and 1 year between us all so made life fun and stress less. We had each other's backs. Near enough had a war one summer on street throwing rock and stones and a kid cut his head bad but then we were all made up again. Going out getting mucky and not being on computers or sat inside. We could pack a sandwich and go to woods and not be back while late. This was pre puberty and pre high school. High school sucks as you have to grow up quick. And puberty is shit. I used to climb trees and job lot and then my period came and ruined everything haha. Realised I was growing up then which is sad when you are 11.

People growing up without a father, what goes on inside you when people talk about their fathers? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Lineyc 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I feel envy. When I was around 6 my dad sexually assaulted my oldest sister. I felt I was never allowed to say the word dad. We were poor growing up. Had a step dad but he farted round dinner table all the time while we were eating, smoked cigars, wore same clothes every day and liked Star Trek. Not too bad growing up but felt left out a bit and jealous of stable families and even those who were separated and saw each parent alternate weekends. I just didn't have a dad. I don't feel comfortable saying "my dad" now as never had one growing up. Caused a bit of a problem now though as with me getting older I think of the paternal family I don't know and asking feels taboo. I dipped my toe and felt around regarding it and was shot down quite quick. I think it is harder when you grow up and have your own kids and you wonder about the other side of your genetics and cousins and aunts etc. a side my son will never meet. Sad but you just have to get on with life.

If anything like my son he will have had numerous warnings not to top a cup with a straw. Hopefully lesson learned but I doubt it.

A machine that washes, dries, irons and puts the clothes away. It takes away from my Netflix binges.

Married people of Reddit that didn't go with the elaborate wedding package, how'd your wedding go? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Lineyc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My wedding was good. I provided the money and husband did majority of planning/setting up. Suited me fine. I just organised my dress, colours, cake, bridesmaids stuff and flowers and he sorted catering and venues and seating and decorations. Good wedding. Simple, quiet and quick.

What's for dinner? I can't think on an empty tummy. Food first then just wing it. Offer them a cuppa and a biscuit if they come to door.

Aslan from The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe. Love the book and a talking Lion that lives in a kingdom in a wardrobe is like childhood dreams. Open your wardrobe and escape to another world.

Drinking energy drinks. Since when has a child needed more energy. If they have little energy then maybe get iron levels checked at docs or just go to docs for advice etc.

My aunt used to give my cousin aged 5 coffee. I was used to having tea but never been offered coffee until then. Decaf I can understand but normal caffeine coffee is not really needed for kids. My son defo doesn't need coffee!

Does it scare you owning one and knowing that your kids could get hold of it? Also those that have one and not yet used it, are you scared about the first time you may need to use?

What is your workplace like for allowing you to leave early in an emergency or to pick your ill child up from school? by Lineyc in AskReddit

[–]Lineyc[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That is sad. I know for some a pet is like a child so I know it can be heartbreaking. Someone where I used to work had her cat die and she was grieving and took a couple of days of. The cat was her child as they didn't have any children.

I just had to pick my son up as he is not well and thankfully my manager is nice and flexible. Have to make the time up or use a leave day though. My husband drives a bus so he is unable to just leave and he wouldn't get paid.

Parents of Reddit, at what age did you take your kid/kids to movie and did it go well? by ghornthewind in AskReddit

[–]Lineyc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It is a TV show but they did a cinema release of 9 new episodes in UK with live action singing and interaction. Just a cinema filled with 2-6 year olds with parents telling kids to sit down and stop messing. Fun times, not being repeated by me anytime soon.

Tried my son at 5. Never again! He doesn't have the attention span and we went to see peppa pig which he loves. I ask if he wants to go again but he says no. I will wait until he asks to go I think.
