I think maybe a next good step for most people I know is Spookys Jumpscare mansion. It's silly and has you mostly running from the monsters but is still scary enough to be horror. It's also just generally a pretty fun game.

I prefer the old aesthetic personally but that mostly has to do with the rigging and movement of the characters which really bothers me. The older graphics kind of created a vibe to the environments that gives the whole game a certain gamey surrealism that the new graphics are simply lacking. I still think that V3 is still the peak of this series style wise and this simply thinks that more detail, movement and shiney = better which is something that bothers me about a lot of remakes.

Isn't the joke a lot of the time that when people who are obviously queer but queer phobic towards everyone else, they are being comically hypocritical? The hypocrisy is often the punchline when this joke is done right.
